Ruth’s Chris has been a favorite of my family for years wherever we have traveled in many places across the US. All of us were looking forward to the first experience at the new location (very nice) for my family to celebrate Mother’s Day and while we had reservations they seated us 20 minutes late. Once seated the server poured the entire pitcher of water on my son and completely soaked him. After sitting for about 5 minutes the server handed us towels and wiped the ice off the table. Another 10 minutes goes by and I had to ask them to please change the entire table cloth as it was drenched. They excused us to the patio and 30 minutes later took us back to the table. The manager stepped outside to hand me his card and offered to “look out” for us the “next time” we visited. At any rate we never heard from him again the whole evening and when we were seated again, the waitress acted like she needed to tell us how fine the dining experience would be. Shortly, yet another manager proceeded to adjust the air away from another table while pointing the vents right down on our table where my son still sat with soaked clothes from the water pitcher accident. I point blank asked her to deflect the vent away from us but apparently she didn’t understand my statement. By 10pm, 2.5 hours later, we left the most disappointing meal I have ever had at any restaurant let alone one that charged $430. The food was subpar. I have been served higher quality steak at a chain steakhouse. In addition, it took 15 minutes for my daughter to ever receive her salad dressing, at which time everyone else had completed theirs. My other daughter didn’t get the salad she wanted because the waitress insisted that she get a different salad because she only wanted one topping. In turn, she didn’t eat the salad served. The waitress continued to make the experience miserable by insulting the fact we had bread left in the basket by saying “wow, that’s a lot of bread!” She was very condescending and sarcastic. On top of everything we experienced, we observed the wait staff the entire night carrying food through the lobby past other people standing and waiting and moving food from one table to the next, completely unsanitary. I tip very well and always have but I normally expect good service and don’t mind paying for it. The only positive experience we had were the valet guys who were super friendly and the view. I sure hope they improve service and management but for the price we paid I expect a little more courtesy and better manners from management and staff. Very disappointed and no I was not looking a free meal as I never accept that just a little-consideration for a terrible experience. An apology would have been terrific and the manager as well as the condescending waitress in my mind failed miserably in turning our experience around. No return for my family to this location. Read moreA very disappointing visit to Ruth's Chris on Valentines Day Feb 14, 2024. On that evening my wife and I dined at the RC in Wilmington NC with 2 other couples. We asked to have individual bills for each couple as is commonly done at all restaurants. When the bill arrived after dinner there was only one bill presented to the table for the total of all three couples. We asked again for the bill to be divided by each couples' actual purchases and were told that it was "against corporate policy" to do so. The manager came to the table and insisted that the ONLY way it could be divided was with 3 equal payments of 1/3 of the $600 bill to each of us. One couple had several alcoholic drinks, the others had none, some had coffee, others had none, some had deserts and others none. It seemed inappropriate to ask each couple to pay a third!! We insisted that they give us each a separate bill, but the manager insisted that it was up to us to sort out who ordered what and work out the allocation of the expenses ourselves, but, we (RC) CAN ONLY accept 3 one third payments to cover the bill. I continued to insist on separate checks and proposed they go back and calculate each couples' responsibility. At this point other patrons were becoming aware of the issue at our table. The manager capitulated by saying - "if you insist, (he sad sarcastically), we can go back and do your sorting out of the expenses for you". They hand wrote each couples amount on top of the TOTAL bill - not separate itemized bills. Ironically, this was our second visit to Ruth's Chris in 3 weeks. We dined at the RC in Myrtle Beach a few weeks ago - asked for separate bills - and there was NO problem at all - apparently this "corporate policy" doesn't apply to the Myrtle Beach Ruth's Chris!!! We were so embarrassed last night I felt compelled to write this review. It is incredulous that they are comfortable charging $70 for a 6oz piece of meat ($187/pound)! But, then they set corporate policies that make your patrons uncomfortable when they ask for something as simple as splitting a bill - commonly done at every restaurant in the country!! Additionally, they have that annoying habit of suggesting tips on the bottom of the bill. They make the "mistake" that dupes people into OVERPAYING tips. To me it is NOT acceptable to suggest a tip based on a total bill that includes taxes!!! I do not tip on taxes and customarily tips are not necessary for the highly marked up alcoholic drinks either. We are not ever walking into a Ruth's Chris again to be overcharged, duped into overpaying for tips, and then abused by their management when trying to...
Read moreBeing that we live in Wilmington and this is The only proper steakhouse in our area read dying here quite often 6 to 8 times per year if not more. The only proper steakhouse in our area. We dine here quite often...6 to 8 Times per year maybe more . I am disappointed that I have to write this review because I've always given them five star reviews In the past. Unfortunately the service has gone downhill as well as the quality of the food in this particular Ruth Chris restaurant. We went here for Mother's Day and it was understandably busy however our reservation was for 730 and it was a Sunday so most of the rush had passed. I was served the wrong salad but I ate it anyway because prior to that the server had forgotten my drink and I didn't want to keep "complaining" so I just ate the salad that I was given. So to the food... As usual we order the petite filet 11 ounce but we pay the upcharge to get choice sides as well as pay the up charge to get choice desserts. Lately there has been a lot of pressure at this establishment to order $100 appetizers as well as entrées which are hundred dollars. lately there has been a lot of pressure at this establishment to order $100 appetizers as well as steaks which are $100 enough and up. We come here enough that we know what we like and how much we can handle in our stomachs. Generally we love the fillet and we try different sides and salad so don't really feel the need to buy $100 steak or appetizer. I feel like I have a salesperson waiting on me lately. We tip well enough regardless of what we order so there is no need for that anyone's table. So that being said we ordered our steaks and sides. And let's face it everyone comes here for the st and let's face it everyone comes here from the steak. I was extremely disappointed with the state this time it was full of fat, drenched in butter and not cooked the way I asked. I specifically ordered the fillet because I told the server I did not wait a lot of fat in my steak. The sweet potato casserole was very good although it was almost like a dessert as it was very sweet. The brussels sprouts were disgusting under cooked and hard and very greasy. The desserts were fine and we took most of those home to enjoy later. But $300 later we did not overall enjoy the experience or the steak. This is the third time we've had issues like this and Ruth's Chris Wilmington. I'd rather drive to Raleigh or even Myrtle Beach next time I want Ruth's Chris... This location is just not worth the...
