Quick Tip: if you're a Starbucks connoisseur or have any desire for consistency in drink quality drive to Marsh Rd Starbucks!
I had a really disappointing service experience at this new Starbucks location on a Saturday around 11:30 . I was excited that Delaware had more options for Starbucks now! ( Marsh rd and 896 95 rest stop are only real alternatives) The store location looked great inside and out. I was informed later, however, that the money put into the appearance and not into hiring REAL baristas is because this is not a REAL Starbucks, privately owned and operated.
As soon as I received my drink I asked the Barista if it was foam free (as originally requested) she said it was. But when I picked it up the weight of the drink made it completely apparent that it was full of foam. I eventually posted the picture on twitter (below). When I asked the Barista to take out the foam I was shocked at her response! Wordless she grabbed the drink while I held the lid. She attempted to pour out the foam (which for obvious reasons did not work). She then scooped out the foam... then handed the half empty drink back to me. I asked that she just remake the drink. She once again surprised me, she just walked away! I couldn't believe it. Baristas have never been anything but kind and courteous even on their busiest days. I was the only one in the store, except for patrons sitting in the lounge (so it's not like I was monopolizing her time).
The manager on duty then came over to make my drink from scratch a few seconds later. Guys, I can't make this up. When she handed me the drink it was so full of foam I begrudgingly asked AGAIN to have the foam removed, but this time I was explicit. I asked the foam please be scooped out and more soy milk steamed to be poured to the top. She smiled and started the drink. But then as I feared, these Baristas truly did not know how to serve a "no foam soy latte". The manager's attempt was half full and still had foam somehow. (Picture included ) This is when I decided to post the pictures to twitter.
Then the manager proceeded to tell me I was wrong, when she saw me taking pictures, soy lattes "always produce foam" the manager told me. I drove 8 miles out of the way to go to a tried and true Starbucks where they made my drink. To add insult to injury the Baristas at the Riverfront Wilmington location didn't even offer me a refund WHEN I DIDN'T TAKE EITHER DRINK HOME.
This was so unbelievably uncharacteristic of Starbucks I was shaken by the first Baristas aggressive nature and refusal to help with my drink and the manager's lack of ability to correct the situation. I really appreciate the Starbucks Twitter team reaching out right away after seeing the pictures. But ultimately Starbucks corp doesn't own this Starbucks and can't correct their obvious...
Read moreI recently visited the local Starbucks and had the pleasure of being served by Connor, a remarkable young barista who truly made my day. From the moment I walked in, his warm smile and friendly demeanor created an inviting atmosphere.
Connor was not only efficient in taking my order but also took the time to engage in conversation, asking about my preferences and recommending a few seasonal drinks that I hadn’t tried yet. His knowledge of the menu was impressive, and his passion for coffee really shone through in our chat.
When my drink was ready, Connor delivered it with a personalized touch—a beautiful latte art heart that made my morning feel extra special. It’s clear that he takes pride in his work and genuinely cares about the customer experience.
Overall, Connor embodies what excellent customer service should be. His enthusiasm, friendliness, and expertise make him a true asset to the Starbucks team. I left feeling uplifted and will definitely be returning for more coffee and great conversations with him. Highly recommend stopping by when...
Read moreI only give this a 3 star because of the decor and location. I live in Wilmington, and until this opened only had the one on marsh road and the one in the Nemours building on North Orange (which have excellent Barista's and service - Not open on sunday). I digress.
When this place just opened they were severely understaffed with very untrained and unprofessional Baristas. Not only did you have a long time to wait, but then the attitude they gave you was unacceptable. Tonight I went there walked in and about 5 or 7 employee's where just standing laughing and talking conversing behind the counter. I actually felt like i was interrupting there conversation by placing a order. Same RUDE service. What is it with this location Starbucks why can't you hire QUALITY employees! I actually don't go to this Starbucks anymore despite how great it looks the service is just awful. I'd rather goto the one on orange...
