The Fork ‘N’ Cork is a true gem in the heart of Wilmington, offering an unforgettable dining experience that has left me eager to return. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere that blends casual comfort with a hint of upscale flair. The decor is charming, with rustic touches that create a cozy ambiance, making it the perfect spot for anything from a laid-back lunch to a special evening out.
But let’s get to the star of the show—the food. The menu is a masterful blend of creative comfort food, with dishes that are both familiar and refreshingly unique. I started with the fried pickles, which were perfectly crispy with just the right amount of tanginess. It’s clear that a lot of thought goes into the appetizers here, setting the stage for the main course.
And speaking of the main course, I opted for the Fork ‘N’ Cork Burger, which I’d heard so much about. It did not disappoint. This burger is everything a burger should be: juicy, flavorful, and stacked with quality ingredients. The combination of smoked gouda, bacon jam, and garlic aioli was nothing short of divine, and the hand-cut fries on the side were crisped to perfection. It’s rare to find a place that puts so much attention into every element of a dish, but The Fork ‘N’ Cork does just that.
My dining companions were equally impressed with their selections. One ordered the Duck Confit Grilled Cheese, which was a decadent twist on a classic, oozing with rich, savory flavors. Another went for the Lobster Mac ‘N’ Cheese, and it was creamy, indulgent, and packed with chunks of succulent lobster. This is comfort food at its finest, with each dish elevating the familiar to something truly special.
Beyond the food, the service at The Fork ‘N’ Cork is top-notch. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu, offering excellent recommendations and ensuring that our dining experience was nothing short of perfect. It’s clear that the staff here takes pride in what they do, and that passion translates to a welcoming and memorable experience for guests.
To cap off the meal, we indulged in the dessert special, a house-made bread pudding that was the perfect balance of sweet and savory, with a delightful texture that made every bite a pleasure. Pairing it with a cup of freshly brewed coffee was the ideal ending to an outstanding meal.
The Fork ‘N’ Cork is more than just a restaurant; it’s a culinary destination that should be on everyone’s list when visiting Wilmington. The combination of exceptional food, a welcoming atmosphere, and top-tier service makes it stand out in a city with no shortage of great dining options. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, do yourself a favor and make sure you experience The Fork ‘N’ Cork—you won’t be...
Read moreThe food is 5 star. The burgers, Fries, onion rings, Mac & Cheese, Classic & Texas Poutine, Chicken sandwich. Wellington bites and Salads are all really really great. The Duck wings are some of the best wings I have ever tried which was surprising to me. They have some of the best food in Wilmington. If I was rating food alone it is 5 star all the way. The reason my over all score is 4 is because the service and Atmosphere weighed it down one star even know the food is so good.
The restaurant is very small which is fine but there can be a very long wait for a table. All of the tables are high with bar level seating. So if you are short or handicap it could be a challenge. There are a very low tables outside. I have been here when the front door is left open and cigarette smoke billows in. I have sat outside once. It was not that great of an experience. On our last visit when we sat outside every time we asked our server for something like a straw, refill napkins etc…she forgot and did not come back. She barely checked on us the entire meal. There were some sketchy people that walked by and lingered. The people on the street obviously does not reflect on the restaurant I am just keeping it real with you so you know it is a possibility if you choose to sit outside. For a very small restaurant you would think the service would be an automatic 5 star but of the 10 or more times I have been there 7 have been not so great service. I have had great service for some of them but more bad than good. With that said I keep going back because the food is so good. The tragic loss of the owner this past year is so very sad and is a huge loss to Wilmington. He clearly was a genius when it came to developing really great flavors. You might assume that burgers, fries, chicken sandwiches, apps etc would be easy to make great but it is actually in my opinion really damn hard because so many places do it well which means you have to go over and beyond to stand out. Fork ‘N’ Cork does that. I dislike writing reviews with anything negative especially about a restaurant I like so much but I keep it real. It is what it is. I waited a long time to write this because I was hoping for the best but after my last visit recently I decided it is time. With all that said if you are still reading this place is a must try if you are visiting or live in the area. I hope you have a visit when all three categories are 5 star and I wish the restaurant...
Read moreI had Fork N Cork bookmarked based on all the stellar reviews and am so glad we tried it out on Saturday night while in downtown Wilmington. We were a party of 4 and were out dining late. At 8pm we put our name down and the hostess told us it would be about an hour. We were fine with that and gave our number so that she could text us when a table was ready. The restaurant is really small with a few tables on Market street and then a bar area and then all high-tops. There is a cool semi-circular opening to the kitchen made of brick and you can peek in and see all the action. We killed some time at New Anthem brewing (go if you like beer) and came back after 9 when our table was ready. Our server was really friendly and got us a round of beers. They have Wicked Weed, Alagash, Bell's, and a few other craft beers on tap. They also serve wine by the glass or bottle. The menu is very burger and sandwich centric and I think I read that they started out as a food truck and this is their brick and mortar establishment. Their appetizers are also very interesting and we started with the duck wings with peach jabanero sauce and the poutine. They were out of brisket for the Texas poutine but if you love fries with gravy, get the poutine. I have had many versions of this Canadian dish with cheese curds and gravy. These were by far the best I have ever tasted. We all ordered different burgers and the menu has such interesting burger toppings. The burgers are huge and I also saw a diner next to use get the salmon avocado club sandwich. It was stacked high and looked so tasty. I had the lamb burger with feta and cucumber and it was superb. David had the Duck Duck Goose burger and he loves duck so it was perfect if you like duck egg, foie grois and decadent duck. Jason had the pimiento cheese burger and that was a Southern heavenly creation. Daniel ordered the special from the menu which was lobster mac-n - cheese and it was served with a Caesar salad. Our burger entrees came with onion rings or fries and everything was finger-lickin' good and just delicious. Although we had to wait and ate late, it was so worth it and would highly recommend coming here and...
