Denny's — Restaurant in Wilson

I wish I could leave zero stars!

After having an issue (regarding conflicting communication about the wait time when we called vs. when we arrived) I thought to be worth bringing to the attention of the manager, I attempted to let him know..... let me just say that it was immediately clear that poor leadership was a MAJOR factor at this location. What was already moderately bad service that could have been corrected by some communication training, now became a nightmare. Throughout the entire time I spoke to him, the manager consistently attempted to speak over me and interrupt me. In addition, it was not lost on me that as I was speaking, the host was in my peripheral shaking his head and mumbling.

To say that this was a poor experience would be a borderline compliment, and simply would not do justice to what just occurred. I have had plenty of wonderful experiences at plenty of Denny's locations, but this location tragically misses the mark. The worst part of this experience was that the manager made no attempt to rectify the situation or even listen to what had occurred. It was clear that he was listening to respond. I did not ask for an apology or discount. Our minds were already made up to leave. I simply had hoped to share my experience with leadership in an attempt to prevent future issues such as this with their employees, yet I was met with arrogance and disrespect. I went into Denny's earlier and it wasn't really packed and we got seated and the lady brung the drinks out and not even a second later all the drinks fell off the tray and got us wet a little bit. She moved us to a new table and we ordered our food and we waited a long time and when my plate came out since it was first the hashbrowns were not cooked all the way and the country fried steak was not even hot at all. I had them go remake my plate but then I decided not to have them make it. When my sons plate came out his mashed potatoes weren't even hot and there was cold areas on it like it was frozen at one point. They were terrible and I will never eat there again. I talked the lady at the register and she admitted they were short on a cook that grills and that she was a rookie and she also claimed she was a waitress. I told her she needed to remove her asap. Not that they actually would or did. I wonder how many other complaints they got today?? Update:01-08-2024 Decided to try it again since I hadn't been in years. The waiter was kind, seated us quickly and asked what we wanted to drink. She brought them out fairly quick and I ordered apple juice. I noticed that there was stuff floating in my cup as if they didn't clean the cups good or something. I let the waiter know and she was quick to give me another drink. If I could give zero stars I would. This had to be the single worst restaurant experience I've ever had. We waited 15 minutes before anyone appeared to our table, then another 15 before we got those drinks and she left before taking our order. Finally takes our order without writing it down, I didnt even ask for what I wanted on my cheeseburger because I knew it wouldn't be right. She had to ask me again before she left the table what I wanted again. After a more than 30 minute wait for food, my meal (burger and fries) was cold, my sons meal was wrong, and my husbands meal wasnt ready at all. Another 10 minutes after his meal comes, it too is cold. During this whole time there were multiple tables walking out, our waitress who said she was from New York was cussing and yelling across the restaurant at customers. One of the tables was yelling as they walked out the door and the manager was yelling back at them. I have 3 and 4 year old boys who were very uncomfortable in the environment. I understand being patient... especially for good food but this was nowhere near good. I didnt even eat my meal after they were supposed to bring me a hot burger and fries. The fries were cooked in a big ball so that they weren't cooked in the middle and the burger just tasted awful. No one at my table received refills on our drinks. When the bill came it was wrong.
