We have loved this restaurant for years and we were stunned when we went with friends Saturday night last week and the food was awful. The chicken Pot pie which was always delicious had an odd taste so I just set it aside. My partner ordered the pork chops which were not good. The apple sauce which came with the chops tasted like it had been scooped out of an apple pie. Thick, gelatinous, super sweet and heavy with cinnamon. Pie filling, not apple sauce for pork chops. The chops tasted like they had been doused with powdered garlic. Fresh garlic has a delicious aroma. These chops stunk so badly that after we left them in a cooler for the ride home they stunk up the car and we just pulled over and threw them out. The coconut cake was fabulous as usual. One friend who comes to Spencer’s frequently had the burger and said it was just ok. One thing that was delicious were the onion rings. They were not cooked enough to brown them, but still were tasty as usual. when the waiter saw that the chicken pot pie was barely touched, he asked if something was wrong and only then did I mention it. Out of the kitchen, presumably came the chef or new owner who said that he added too much celery, apologized and said he would take it off the bill. I really doubt that too much celery had made it that odd flavor. Later I heard from friends and then confirmed that Spencer’s has been sold. I really hope they straighten out the problems with the food. This place has always been a welcoming venue with great comfort food amd...
Read moreSpencer’s Corner Bar Gets FIVE STARS from Us We had one of our best dining experience last night at Spencer’s Corner Bar. The ambiance at Spencer’s is very welcoming and charming, on the patio and inside the restaurant. I couldn’t wait to write this because the amazing ambiance, food, wines and service all added up to make it a memorable evening. Co-owners David and Ray are usually the greeters at the door, with a warm, welcoming attitude. Staff are extremely knowledgeable, make great recommendations and are among the best servers you will find on Wilton Drive. Spencer’s has become our absolute favorite restaurant here. The food is always terrific - and no matter what I order – we are always pleased with our meals! Both servers Chris and Alex are also fantastic and constantly happy, efficient and polite. Bartenders Nico and David have great personalities – and mixing skills! We just can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to everyone looking for somewhere to eat along “The Drive”. Yes, do yourself a favor and visit this delightful restaurant and patio. The service level here is unmatched. The staff seems to really care about your dining experience. The food is absolutely stunning – everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Definitely, the best time we had while here on vacation. Wilton Manors Best - Highly...
Read moreThis is the first time I've ever posted a 2-star review, and I hope it’s the last.
Before ordering, we specifically requested three separate checks, which the server acknowledged. However, when it was time to pay, we were given a single check. After reminding the server, he returned with separate checks, but they were incorrect. We had to sort out the charges ourselves and provide him with yet another correction. On the third attempt, he finally brought the correct checks with the accurate charges.
The second round of drinks took significantly longer than the first, and one guest in our party had to follow up on their drink—only to be told the order had been forgotten.
The food was underwhelming. One burger and fries came with just 14 fries—less than you'd expect in a kid’s meal. Another dish, a grilled chicken sandwich with onion rings, had overcooked, dry chicken and just three onion rings.
This was my third visit to Spencer’s. The first time, both the food and service were pretty good. The second time, the food was okay, and the service left much to be desired—I wrote it off as them having a bad day. But this time, both the food and service were unacceptable. For a $100 meal for two, the experience was more than...
