New Review: Editing this review bc I went back here with a friend and really enjoyed my dining experience! We met here on a Friday evening during happy hour. First thing I noticed was that the former grumpy, condescending, and sassy servers, whom had been such a mainstay for so many years, were finally GONE! Thank goodness! Instead, we enjoyed excellent service with pleasant attitude, which really made a difference in our overall experience.
I ordered three really well-made and delicious lychee martinis, and so did my friend. They were $7 each during happy hour, which seems like a good price nowadays. However, I do want to note that I would never again pay the regular price of over $15 each. Then I ordered the large Thai garden salad. That was also super yummy! The ingredients were fresh and crisp and the ginger dressing was the perfect combination of ginger and carrot goodness. For my main dish, I got one of my go-to faves, their 17th Street roll, which was high in quality and flavor. The portions were also very good for the money. However, neither of my food options were part of the happy hour specials. That’s fine by me as long as the food is fresh, tasty, and well-portioned for the price.
I am now Giving them 5 stars! Huge leap from the 1 star, poor customer-service-driven experience that nearly ruined my favorite restaurant for me for life! I will be coming back a few times monthly again for sure!
Old Review: This used to be my absolute favorite sushi spot for the past 9 years. I frequented this restaurant at least 40 times a year (~once a week). I celebrated my birthdays here. I invited all my friends here. I indulged in weekly work lunches here. All this time, I ignored the often rude service because the food was delicious and generously portioned. Now, however, I am beyond disappointed that the food quality has plummeted! This was my third time in less than 30 days that I came here and had a poor experience. But this time warrants a bad review. They are now using DYED and FROZEN fish! And what’s worse is that the sushi is NOT fresh! I could smell it was RANK when I lifted the sashimi to my mouth, but I still gave it a try. Huge mistake! I had to spit the whole piece of fish out and gagged! When I advised the waiter that the fish was spoiled, she grabbed the bento box, stormed off, and started ranting loudly in another language! Then she proceeded to ignore me to the point that I had to go to the front to pay. I told the guy at the front counter that this experience was a terrible disappointment and that I hoped this was not going to be their new norm since I’m a regular. He did not care at all! I was expecting some kind of pride in their product and some assurance that this was just a fluke. However, his response to my honest feedback was to roll his eyes and say “that’s good.” Terrible food, dirty tables, filthy bathroom, rude rude rude service! They lost a long time customer. And I lost my go to sushi spot for the past almost decade. But they simply...
Read moreThis restaurant has been a mainstay in Wilton Manors for years. The food and service are fine, although I would take issue with culinary protocol and suggest that they review the manner in which dishes are brought forth and placed, mainly soup, which would benefit from a dish underneath.
The menu offers a diverse selection of Thai Cuisine and a broad range of affordable prices. The lunch selections were not limited in the least and the wait staff was pleasant and accommodating. My food was nicely seasoned, the rice on the side was fluffy and hot, but I do prefer my vegetables, most notably broccoli, to be cooked just a bit longer. It was just a bit too raw and very hard to chew. A little crunch is perfectly okay with most vegetables, but broccoli stalks can be a challenge.
My only real concern though is that the restaurant is overly shop worn with noticeable, obvious signs of wear on practically every surface; ALL of which was VERY evident in the daylight of lunchtime. Scuffed, dirty wall surfaces, major dust on overhead fixtures and decore, lifting surface finishes on the dining tables, and worn finish marks on ALL the chairs. The restaurant has been open for several years. One caveat of being a popular eatery is that wear and tear have cumulative effects. They absolutely need to freshen things up which is easily done given that they obviously invested in higher quality tables and chairs that can easily be refinished... The entire place needs a coat of fresh paint and management should be more diligent about performing thorough Spring and Fall cleanings. It's simply called MAINTENANCE... It's a great place, but complacency has killed many a business and it needs to be banished if they are going to remain popular. They have to remain every bit as committed to every detail today, as they were when they...
Read more2017 : I really don' like putting down places but this is reality and this is the forum for it. My partner and I wanted a light dinner and we decided to do appetizers. He had the seafood soup which he said was good. It went downhill from there. We shared the fried calamari and Thai dumplings and I ate the soft shell crab. All were tasteless. The crab was over fried. The calamari were over fried. Too much breading too. Pretty sure you could buy them at a grocery store and just fry them. Nothing special. The dumplings, nothing special too. Next time I go, and I will, I'll do a Thai entrée and hope they can redeem themselves.
2019: We have not been here in about a year or two. Last time we had an OK dinner, nothing to write home about. I was surprised that the other half wanted to go here again but he was paying so I had no objections. Seated immediately and waiter took our drink order (only iced tea). Other half had the chicken and rice soup which he said was excellent and we had the steamed dumplings. He was ok with them, I was happy with them. His entree was the shrimp tempura with veggies which he said was very good and I had the soft shell crab tempura with veggies which was excellent. 3 nice soft shell crabs in a spicy sauce recommended by our waiter. Lastly had Thai donuts for a dessert. Bill came out to a measley $62 which I thought was cheap for what we ordered. Happy meal and will...
