Melendez Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Windcrest

We have been coming here for a few years and normally this place has great service who are friendly. But today 07/05/2025 we called to place a to go order and the staff already knows us. I was placed on hold as soon as I called and stayed on hold for 10 mins where I could hear the lady who answered the phone helping other customers and then after that I could hear her having a conversation with a coworker. I literally stayed on line until we got to the restaurant and she was still talking to the same person and totally forgot about me. As we walked in, another customer walked in at the same time and my husband informed her that I was still waiting on the phone and she said, " I'm so sorry, a million sorries" and goes and takes the order from the customer that just walked in instead of having the courtesy of taking our order for having me wait on the phone for 10 mins. And to add insult to injury, when our food was ready, it sat there for 5 mins while the lady talked with the same coworker that she was talking to when we walked in; I literally had to walk up to the counter and pretend to get a toothpick to remind her that I'm waiting for my food that has just been sitting there getting cold for 5 mins. She saw me, remembered, bagged our food, and handed it to us when the customer before us had his food right away. To sum it all up, we waited on the phone, and even after our food was ready, we had to wait even longer, unacceptable. The whole purpose of calling was to make it a quick pickup. We feel very disrespected ,disappointed and dissatisfied. We won't come as often as we have been. I wouldn't have written this feedback if a lady would have just had the courtesy of taking my order before the customer that had just arrived before me. 10 minutes is not a long time, but when you are placing an order for food, it may seem like...

The customer service is the best! I work early mornings into late evenings and they're always willing to accommodate my schedule by making my food hot and fresh, whether I call it in for pick-up, or come in for a quick sit-down.

Ms. Monica and Ms. Maria are both extremely sweet, asking about my day and whether I've enjoyed my weekend or have a big week ahead. Most often, I feel like part of the family.

Whether I'm eating the egg white and avocado breakfast tacos (sometimes with bacon), the chicken mole enchiladas, the chicken fajita torta, the crispy beef tacos, or the bean and cheese chalupas, I can count on the food to hit the spot! The homemade tortillas and the red and green salsa make everything in the world seem right. This is my go-to spot whenever anyone says, "Hey, do you know any great Mexican restaurants?"

The only complaints I have are 1. that they aren't open 24 hrs. and 2. that I can't always get my favorite spot by the front windows because the business continues to grow and everyone loves coming here.

Oh, and they're always willing to put my drink in a to-go cup for an awesome parting gift. WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR, PEOPLE?!

I went there for lunch and I ordered nachos and a puffy taco. I asked the lady if she could give me some that are hot. She then began to explain that they were cold because of the lettuce and tomatoes and that if she made me more they would be cold too :/ I never got the puffy taco, so I asked if she could cancel the nachos and just give me the puffy taco. She said that lettuce and tomatoes would make it cold to.... I then said I eat this all the time from different places including here and its never cold because of the lettuce and tomatoes. she then refused to serve me told me I could not finish eating my chips and salsa or drink my drink that I needed to leave and called the police on me...when I was walking to my car she followed me outside to get my license plate number... I don't know if she was just having a bad day because she usually pretty nice. But what ever issues she had when she left home she should have left at home!!!!!!!!!! The food is good. BUT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A MUST WHEN I AM SPENDING MY MONEY. AND THIS DAY IT WAS...
