The Border Restaurant — Restaurant in Windsor

My wife and I found this little gem some months back. Since than we have been returning customers. We are never disappointed and we are always satisfied.

Everything my wife and I have tasted has been very delicious, whether it was the mouthwatering prime rib dinner, the comforting Chimichanga dinner, or the awesome surf and turf dinner and so many other meals we have now tasted, everything is so delicious. Did I mention the portions?? Let me put it this way, I'm a big guy and I can put it down no problem, but when I leave from this restaurant I feel as though I might need a wheelbarrow to assist me lol. Very satisfying!

The customer service is always 100! You walk in and they make you feel so welcomed. You can really tell the community feels the same way as customers pile in and out of this fine establishment and everyone seems to know the owners very well. A+

All that being said, let me close with this. I'm not one to leave reviews unless I really feel one is deserved. If I had more thumbs, they would all be...

No bueno! Terrible service! Website say's "home of the $1.50 margarita" and when we asked the waitress about it she said, "Uh, I don't know. I guess. I'll honor it." Then she messed up and gave us larges instead of the small one's that are actually $1.50 and later figured it out (not sure how) and said she would still just charge the lower price, but she didn't. Took her forever to figure out the math to refund us. Very slow service too, evwn though it was not busy at all. Food sat in the window for way too long. And, the food made 3 of us sick. My daughter got a BLT rather than mexican food and was the only one that didn't get sick...and her food was actually okay. However, the mexican food is just not that good. Felt very cafeteria like or dare I say Casa Bonita like. Also very dingy location.....dirty and very small. No AC....kinda felt like actually being in Mexico, except the food was bad. My husband's steak was cooked fantastic. It was very weird to get a steak and Then a chicken breast with BBQ sauce on it all on the same plate. We thought the "special" was one or the other not both. The green chili tots were good. Also ordered a hot beef sandwich. Didn't eat that. The brown gravy on it had a very "different" flavor that I/we weren't crazy about. My husband had mashed potatoes with his steak/chicken and it had that same brown gravy, didn't care for it. Service was not the best. We had to ask multiple times to get drinks. We asked what the special was she pointed at a board and told us they were up there. Check out time, was handed a hand held credit card machine and she walked away. We did it all our self. We left. No bye, no thank you for coming, no how was dinner can we get you anything else. Over all. Have had better, have had worse. Would we come back? I am not sure we would.
