American Deli — Restaurant in Winston-Salem

4.4 on UberEats. 4.2 on Google. What could go wrong, right? Boy, was I wrong! Never tried this place before, but they have a Sub + Wings + Fries meal that sounded like a good idea, so I checked the reviews and went for it based off of them. The fries were regular, crinkle-cut fries. No issue with those. The wings were small and dry and fried too hard (or they were old). The subs were the biggest disappointment in my food life. Ham & turkey subs, extra meat, extra cheese, with mayo, mustard lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, banana peppers, s&p, oil, vinegar, oregano. Where did the green peppers come from? And where are our pickles? And why does it taste like a sandwich from a brown bag from the school cafeteria that I used to get because I didn't bring my own lunch for the field trip? And why does it smell like a hospital?!?! I was happy they forgot to extra our meat and cheese!...

I ordered door dash and when I received the drink order it was not sealed like chil fil a, Burger King, Wendy’s, or any other store. For the convenience of customers this store should have prepared for that before signing up with door dash or uber. If I ran a food restaurant it would be automatic customer care to seal the drink and bag before giving it to a stranger. I’d desire for my customers to be satisfied. If it’s not required, I’d do it anyway because that what I’d desire for my own food. It should be an automatic click in the brain of management to say “ it required to secure the seals of of food for our customers” not door dash customers but my customers because it’s my food their eating my food they bought to enjoy. American Deli is definitely hit or miss! They have their days when the food is good and other days when it’s horrible. I absolutely love that the wings are small (for people who don’t like big chicken)! I always order mine, 3 x crispy! Sometimes they do it, sometimes they don’t! I wish they wouldn’t use so much sauce….. they literally drench it.

They hardly ever answer the phone… I believe they take it off the hook because I got a busy signal for 20 minutes, walked right in to find the two cashiers just standing at the counter! the drive through is open when they feel like it.. if your food is wrong, the cashiers will get an attitude when you ask for it to be fixed.
