Kilwins Ice Cream - Chocolate - Fudge — Restaurant in Winston-Salem

Ordered a quart of their Cake Batter Ice Cream with DoorDash. Sadly this was one of the least tasty ice creams I've ever had. The texture of the ice cream was similar to "frozen dairy desert". It was not rich, smooth or creamy. The cake pieces were not soft or moist...overly dry and crumbly. The fudge frosting mixed in also had a poor texture and there was WAY too much of it. For the price, I assumed this would have been a freshly packed quart like you would expect at Cold Stone but you would be wrong. This tasted as if it had been in the freezer for a month or two. Quart had the letters JB on the bottom for whatever that's worth. Very disappointed, especially considering the price paid for the quart via DoorDash. BEWARE!!! Don't buy the gourmet apples without having them sliced in the store. My husband bought a "turtle apple" for me and brought it home. Once I cut it open, it was rotten on the inside. I should have known because the handle (stick) would not stay in the apple. During a later trip to the store, I told an employee about the last apple that was bought at their store. She said, "That hasn't happened before...." She did not apologize or offer to reimburse me for the rotten apple. It would have been nice to have been acknowledged. I don't lie and expected more from Kilwin's. For the past 5 years, we would drive to Boone, NC to shop and buy a "turtle apple" at Kilwin's. This is my daughter’s favorite ice cream shop. But sadly I will no longer support this business. Yesterday my daughter and I stopped in to get some raspberry sorbet ice cream (that the had in the back in a Rubbermaid container). The employee made us pay for our ice cream first before she even scooped it out of the container into the cups. I thought that was odd, but I paid anyways. I stayed a few seconds later to see if the employee would charge the other guests first before fixing their ice cream, and she didn’t. I was the only African American in the shop AND the only one that had to pay first before she even scooped my ice cream.
