Adorable walk up ice cream shop located on the corner of John Wayne Dr & E Green St, offering more than just ice cream. In fact it looks like they have quite the menu to choose from. Prices are good. We chose medium size soft serve cones which were quite generous. There are only outside tables to sit at. Parking is on the street as far as I could tell. Definitely a place to stop when visiting Winterset, IA. If you deem this review helpful, please give it a like. Thank you.

Stopped in at Winterset to visit another attraction, but saw the classic Frostee's sign and had to stop in! I had a classic chocolate milkshake and it was tasty! I love visiting local places, especially when there is a vintage-ness about them. Would say, if you are stopping in Winterset, stop in!

After visiting the bridges of Madison County that are located around Winterset, Iowa, it is definitely a delightful experience to visit Frostee’s. They are really great ice cream products as well as french fries, curds, and other really need things to eat.

Monkey tail is a frozen banana pre dipped in chocolate, I’d prefer if they made it fresh for me but that’s how they brought it out the back in a sandwich baggie… all good just saying how it would have been better😉

Tally ho is an ice cream sandwich, I had to look it up because they said they didn’t know what it was but just that they know they don’t have any at the moment (was on menu)

Big wheel is an ice cream cookie 🍨🍪 I had to look it myself up too, I don’t know if it’s chocolate chip or oatmeal but they also said they were out and it was up on the menu as well

The girls working were as sweet as can be🥰 I asked about a few things on the menu, tally ho, big wheel, and they said they didn’t know what they were just that they know they were out of them. How helpful of them to do their job👏. Treated me and my 5 kids so kindly💞 will definitely be returning, Thank you young ladies🙏🫶☺️

Still unsure what a Spanish parfait is, the girl showed me whole peanuts 🥜 go on it, I don’t know how that makes a Spanish parfait but okay 👌

‼️ if you dress nice and wear makeup their in towners / (regulars) might stare at you like you’re a movie star 🎥 🌟 it’s like they’ve never seen anything or anyone beautiful 🤩 they won’t compliment, just stare lol 😝🤓 a bit impolite they act embarrassing but hey some mommy’s and daddy’s don’t teach manners just allow their children to be just as trashy as themselves 😆🙏

We also ordered a banana split, strawberry shortcake, a medium dipped cone, and a freeze. They gave me ice water...

As a frequent customer of frosty’s, I’m still in shock with how terrible we were treated by the owner. After my 5 year old and I tried our cyclones, we realized they accidentally made the wrong order. We got back in line to ask if we could trade ours for what we ordered. The owner came up and in a rude and combative tone asked “what do you want me to do” she then dug through both of our cyclones to (Im assuming make sure we were telling the truth?) She then told me “I could dump them out and check” I said that was okay if she wanted to. Finally she said “what do you want more topping” then literally threw the topping on top of both of our cyclones and shoved them through the door. I told the owner I wasn’t trying to be rude, we just wanted our right order that we paid for. She didn’t apologize, just rolled her eyes and said she had new staff working. The owners behavior was completely out of line and uncalled for. Especially in front of a child! Yikes! On the positive side we used this as a learning experience that unfortunately when you encounter very rude and unpleasant people always be kind...

This is an awesome walk-up restaurant! My husband and I went here for the first time on Labor Day and we will definitely go back. Their helpings are generous, and the prices are extremely reasonable. They do only take cash only, but that helps keep prices low. We didn’t have any cash, but there is a Kum & Go across the street we easily got cash back from—and it was so worth it! Their fries were some of the best I’ve had (made fresh), and their ice cream was delicious! I got a small fry and shake, which would’ve easily been a...
