I hate to pull the racist card, so I won’t flat-out say this establishment was racist. Instead, I’ll explain my experience, and you can conclude. On 1/20/24, my friends and I entered Ihop for breakfast. There were about 16 of us. When we entered the establishment, the hostess asked if we wanted to sit together or have separate tables. We opted for different tables. Each table had four guest dining. Our waitress greeted us and informed us that we would be charged an 18% gratuity automatically to our bill. I was confused, and I asked our waitress why. She proceeded to say that we’re a group of over six people. I always tip, so I really didn’t care, but what I did care about was someone forcing me to tip and trying to lie to me and use their privilege to attempt to make me look like an aggressor. Each table had four diners. We came in as a group but dined separately for billing purposes. The waitress couldn’t logically explain why they tried to force a gratuity on our tab. The waitress and manager tried to tell me it was because we knew each other and came in as a group. Again, there are four diners at different tables with different checks. I don't particularly appreciate it when people try to insult my intelligence. Again the manager tried to tell me there was an automatic gratuity for parties of six or more. After being talked to as if I was an incompetent toddler, I finally just asked the waitress and the manager, “Are you trying to ensure you get your tip?” Guess what her response was? Yep, you guessed it, she said yes. She said yes and then stated, no worries, you’ll enjoy your experience. She lied. The food was cold and incorrect. Since we were four diners at four different tables, we all received our food at various times. Mind you, I didn’t want to eat here, Ihop is disgusting if you ask me. At the end of service, the bill came, and guess what? There were four diners on each bill with handwritten notes for gratuity. The restaurant couldn’t add the gratuity to our bill automatically because, again, there were four diners at four tables with four different receipts. Luckily, we had cash :-). If you choose a job that pays under minimum wage, that is your decision. Don’t try to force anyone to pay you more than your company. Again, I’m a great tipper, but I don’t particularly appreciate being insulted. It’s illegal, and you all should be careful because you'd be sued for things like this. I didn’t want to end up on anyone’s news channel and be labeled “that person.” However, I refuse to be treated as a low-class person in society. I will never support Ihop again; their food is mediocre, and the service is trash. If you choose to, please proceed cautiously, especially if you’re a group of American citizens dining in.
Here to update…..IHOP never called back and never followed up. It’s safe to say I’ll...
Read moreI had an APPALLING experience at this IHOP location. The place was packed, and we waited a very long time for a table. Understandable given the location, however, the nightmare started after we were seated. I honestly think we were forgotten about, sat for half an hour without anyone even taking our drink order. Finally we waved someone down and asked if we could please get some water and coffee, at which time they seemed to remember us and took our order. The food took an inordinate amount of time to come to the table, again to be expected I suppose, given the number of customers. However, when the food finally came the waitress left promptly, only for us to realize there was NO silverware at our table, and no syrup for our pancakes. It took a full ten minutes after this point to get anyone’s attention, despite waving desperately at several servers who studiously ignored us. Finally we had to get up from the table and corner a bus boy and beg him for silverware and syrup. He was the only kind person in this entire establishment and despite that not being his job, he took care of our needs promptly. Our children were melting down with hunger and the food had gone cold. But it doesn’t end there. When my boyfriend cut into his fried eggs, the yolk inside was literally white. It looked like the egg was filled with pus. It honestly made us both nauseous just looking at it. My boyfriend lost his appetite and pushed the plate away. It was again impossible to get anyone’s attention so I shared some of my food with my boyfriend and decided to eat the hash browns from his plate. We would have sent the food back but there was NOBODY available. Finally, after what felt like hours later, our server came back to the table. We had never had coffee refilled once. We explained that we wanted my boyfriends plate removed from the ticket. Yes, I had eaten the hash-browns, but I had also had to give him half of my own plate so he wouldn’t go hungry. When we got to the counter to pay the bill, it was to discover that they hadn’t subtracted my boyfriends plate from the total. I asked why it hadn’t been taken off, and the waitress rudely stated that if the food was that bad, we should have sent it back to have it remade and that she couldn’t take it off the slip. In disbelief, I asked for a manager, and was left waiting at the counter for a full fifteen minutes. Finally the same waitress came back and I swear, she was sneering as she told me the manager said she could subtract for the cost of the eggs only because I had eaten from the plate. She really looked like she was enjoying herself. I was beyond livid over the entire ordeal. Needless to say, I left not a penny for a tip. I have never received worse service, and I’ll never be coming back to...
Read moreOrdered to go at ~8:30am with estimated pickup at 8:56am. Arrived a bit early at 8:50am and completely understood that my order was still being prepared. Asked another employee at 9:15am about the status of my order and was told it is still being prepared. The manager approached me at 9:30am and informed me they don’t have an order for me in the system. I pull up my email and show her my order in which she responds by saying give her 5 minutes. No apology. She offered orange juice or coffee and I politely decline. Food finally gets to me around 9:55am, a full hour after I arrived and an hour and a half after I placed my order. I requested to speak to the manager to tell her that this situation is unacceptable by any standard. I was not raising a voice nor being rude as the restaurant was beginning to get busy and I did not want to create a scene. The manager was not being receptive to my concerns whatsoever and was even beginning to raise her voice and pounding a table with her hands as if she was the one being inconvenienced. She ended up ignoring me, said “bye” in the rudest way possible, and walked away with a sheepish smile on her face as if she was proud to have treated a customer so poorly in front of her employees and other customers. While I understand you won’t get premium service at an establishment such as this, it is still quite appalling to be treated so poorly when the problem at hand was 100% on IHop. I hate to write bad reviews but this one is more geared towards the blonde-haired manager at the Wisconsin Dells IHop. To you IHOP manager, this is not the way to treat your customers when you are without question in the wrong. I hope through this that you may learn 1 thing or 2 about how to treat people, much less your customers. I sure have learned something and that is to...
