THEY HAVE GLUTEN FREE OPTIONS!!!! AND THEY KNOW WHAT ITEMS HAVE GLUTEN IN THEM!!!! (For those that don't know, this is a big deal. Not many Asian restaurant know what gluten is or what has it.) I read some of the negative reviews about this place and I promise you the negative reviews were written by KARENS. Someone complained about the prices....um all the items on the menu are UNDER $15.25 and they are generously proportioned. Someone also complained about the menu not having traditional Chinese items.... they obviously didn't see the szechwan style chicken. And finally someone complained about the flavor of the dishes. I doubt they understand what authentic Asian cuisine tastes like. For example, China has a variety of different flavors, I believe there are 7 main regions flavors, some flavors are meant to be subtle and earthy, while others are spicy and mouth numbing. White people are too used to salt. The flavors that are brought forward by the herbs used are far more rewarding. If you want a stronger flavor then ask for a higher spice level...duh... If the dish isn't meant to be spicy and you think it lacks flavor, then you are the problem. Some of those dishes are meant to be light in flavor. You are supposed to enjoy the flavor that is created from the herbs. This opinion is based off of my chinese studies, I could be wrong (I've been studying Chinese culture for 3 years...
Read moreFirst time dining during lunch with my daughter and the customer service was not pleasant. We only ordered 2 water apparently they provided us with water bottles according to the owner of the restaurant making statements to another customer at a different table stating that the restaurant dont want to serve cups of water because it's adding too much dishes to do and they are too lazy to serve cups of water so with bottle of water is easier for their customers. These statements made me uncomfortable as a customer dining in their restaurant. My daughter ordered sweet and sour chicken and I ordered a beef pho that does not look like a bowl of beef pho, barely any condiments. I was not satisfied with the service and food both my daughter ate. Our total came up to $30, I didn't get my receipt to show my total and what I was charged until I left to my car and wandered my total so I called to confirm my total and thats when I was told that I was charged $10.50 for my daughter's lunch and my small bowl of beef pho was $11.95 which was not pleasant to eat and lastly we were charged $2.50 for each of the water bottle. I got even more furious to hear the earlier statements about serving cups of water and they are charging for water bottles. This place is ridiculous! I will not return back to this unpleasant restaurant. Also by the way, my change was just thrown on...
Read moreGreat place for a quick business lunch. We often visit Duc's maybe 3 times per month...sometimes more often.
If this is your first time at Duc's then you must try their Curry Chicken Wings appetizer. Some sports bars offer 80 flavors of wings but it turns out that an independent restaurant like Duc's only needs one flavor to kick-start your lunch experience. We've seen employees from nearby wing joints (still wearing their uniforms) stop by to eat lunch at this place. Like an old Kung Fu movie...the students seek out the master.
Sometimes I have these Curry Wings as a main course. Served with a side of steamed rice and some stir fried vegetables from a shared plate - amazing combination.
Their selection of soups (wonton/hot and sour (double order), pho or egg noodle) are not only delicious but are large enough to be a satisfying meal...keeps you warm on a cold winter day.
The lunch specials are a good deal - appropriately priced and decent sized portions. Served piping hot with a choice of protein, steamed or fried rice and what we believe to be wok-kissed vegetables. Good lunch selections for folks who are too hungry or busy to think about reading the whole menu.
If you have more time then check out their noodle dishes and their full lunch and dinner options. Very...
