Sierra — Local services in Woodbury

I visited this store two days in a row, both out of my way. On 8/23/2023 I visited the store and asked about their return policy. The girl at the counter said “as long as it’s under $70 it won’t be an issue”. I explained Sierra sold us the worst, most uncomfortable shoes I’ve ever owned, and a broken backpack. We hadn’t noticed the backpack was broken until after we left for our hiking trip. To which again she said “it won’t be an issue, the cashier will just call over a manager”. The shoes were cutting my feet open, and ruined our hiking trip. When I visited on 8/24/23, I had no issues returning the broken backpack, but when it came to the shoes, the manager was ready to fight me. When I explained the situation, I explained the cashiers appearance and tried to recall her name, but the managers only response was “that’s not our policy, I’ll review it with my team”. Well that’s great.. but what does that do for an unhappy guest? I would have been fine with a store credit to get different items, but she was very adamant and horrible at making sure the customer was happy. We love shopping at Sierra, but will avoid this location...

TL;DR: STOP, turn your car around, and go to REI instead where the employees are actually helpful and knowledgeable.

I stopped in looking for a camping cot. The place was clean and a sales associate asked what I was looking for. She was friendly enough and pointed across the store where I would find them. I found them eventually and two other employees walked by, but never asked if I had any questions. It was 10:45 AM and there was hardly anyone else in the store, but nobody seemed interested in helping me out.

Do yourself a favor and shop at REI instead. In the same amount of time that I spent at Sierra, I would've had an employee provide a detailed explanation of the products and I would have a recommendation based on my needs. My brother told me about how great Sierra is. I finally decided to check it out and went here for my first time. This was probably like last month or so. I've been meaning to post a review. I can say I love the quality products and the workers were okay except one dude who kept asking me if I'm doing "okay". He repeated that so many times throughout my entire shopping and that it started to annoy me. It was like he was suspicious or trying to kick me out pretty much.
