Hate to do this especially since I love the Tono locations in St. Paul and Maplewood. The Woodbury location is not good. The service is poor, the food quality is poor, all around had a frustrating experience. When I picked up my order (5+ minutes after pickup time), I was handed three of my four items; the guy at the counter didn't even check the order slip. I told him I was missing a caprese salad, he disappeared for 10 minutes and finally came back with the salad without so much as an apology. Just to note: my hot food was sitting on their cold counter the entire time I was waiting for the cold salad, even when the guy behind the counter could've easily placed the hot items back in the warming cabinet before he left to get the salad. Before I could ask for a bag to carry my stuff out, he disappeared again. After all that, I should've known better and checked my order before leaving the restaurant: ordered a #4 Sunny Side cheesesteak with cheese whiz and added garlic aioli. Got an excessive amount of aioli--so much that it looks like white American cheese, but I assure you it wasn't, it was all garlic mayo all day long--but definitely didn't get any cheese whiz and the bread was bone dry. We got a #6, Phat Tony cheesesteak and that one was okay. Ordered a #13 Don Pepe pizza; it was really bad compared to their other locations. The part of the order the guy had to disappear for 10 minutes to get was the caprese salad and that was good. Left a 20% tip on this order and am really regretting it. I don't plan on going back to this location and it's left a sour taste in my mouth towards their brand in general.
Update: My order was refunded by the general manager. I'm bumping up my review from 2 to 3 stars because of his generosity and will raise it higher if my next experience at the Woodbury location is better than this one. Hopefully they can get...
Read moreGreat gluten free crust and the only place I noted in the area who didn’t up-charge for the crust modification. Customer service is on point every time, very friendly, well mannered, and accommodating, delicious cheesesteaks, salads, and brick oven customizable pizzas offering gluten free optional crust… This location gets pretty busy but still remains clean and stock well maintained, nonetheless. If in the local area, as I cannot speak for their other locations, but I’m sure they are similar, I would definitely recommend you check it out, they are a little pricey, but nothing out of market, unfortunately every where comparable is just as expensive, if not more.. I overheard, not sure if this special is still a thing, as the venue’s website doesn’t advertise such claim, that Tono’s Woodbury has a BOGO pizza special on Tuesdays, so that helps out a bit for the budget cautious folks. Lastly, Tono’s has a lot of dipping sauces that they make fresh in house, and at times will debut new flavors, which is fun, and pairs amazingly well with their pizza crust/sandwiches, as well as drizzle overtop one of their many yummy salads…(I believe this to be a complimentary service, as the many times I’ve eaten or picked up takeout from this location, I’ve noticed bins full of pre-portioned dipping sauces right at the register and some in the cooler, accessible to the patrons...
Read moreTotally went here because people were raving about it on the Woodbury Neighborhood Facebook page and I had to check it out. I brought my friends for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised. SUCH. GOOD. SERVICE. AND FANTASTIC FOOD. We shared a pizza with fantastic pepperoni, their homemade sausage bits and delicious sauce.🍕 The pizza was made to order AND done in less than 2 minutes. They have an amazing pizza cooker that cooks the pizza evenly with flames! We also shared truffle fries and a Philly sandwich called the Phat Tony. It has a their homemade habenero jelly sauce on it with bacon slices! The last thing we tried was focaccia and I loved the fresh herbs on top. So good. 😍 There is also special sauces that you can dunk your food in and we have to come back just to have more flavor options. I totally missed that when we tried our food! Todd, the manager on-site, was so helpful and was keeping the place moving smoothly, between instore orders and to-go orders. We asked him questions about the food and we ended up chatting with him during lunch (between clients and orders) about the store and places we'd like to travel if we had the weekend with unlimited cash to spend. It was a pretty great convo and the energy of the space is cozy. Two local teens mentioned to us they go here twice a week to hangout and eat the good food. That's awesome. Highly...
