Me, two girlfriends, and my sister decided to start our tasting at Long Shadows in Woodinville. My sister and I were here one time prior to this visit and had a positive enough experience. So we recommended starting with Long Shadows as our first stop.
There is no argument they have solid reds. Unfortunately the staff and service needs a lot of work.
As we walked-in we were greeted by a snooty person who had a single word vocabulary. She greeted us with a very cold "Hi".
We followed her to our seats (stools)!! My sister had a sprained ankle, and one of the ladies in our group has a really bad back.
I would like to point out that the place is pretty much empty at this point.
We asked the vocab challenge lady if we could sit at one of the many empty couches, and she responded "NO". Yep you guessed it, no additional explanation. We asked why, and she responded "reservation only". WOW! She knows how to answer with more than one word, I guess that's progress! SIGH!!! So I responded "We made reservations weeks ago". She walks away without responding. She walked by us again, and we requested for a stool with a higher back and she looked at us and walked away without responding. Brought back a stool and told us "just one" and literally walked away!!! Well I guess this is progress at Long Shadows winery, the vocab challenge lady is graduating to two word sentences but still holds on to an insane level of rudeness and relentless attitude. 10min in - At this point the waitress finally came by, we asked her why we can't sit on the couch, she responded "it's for members only". OK! I thought it was a reservation thing, but whatever. I will accept that! 45min in- As we sat there for 45min it's important to point out the couch area was still empty, and we had 2 people in our party who could really use a more comfortable seating arrangement.
My sister and I each purchased 3 bottles.
We each asked for a glass of Pedestal, where the waiters rudely asked us to leave as there was a reservation at 3PM ( it was 2:15).
Let's break this down : If we were not fully paying customers and only one or two members of our party were drinking, I could see the rush to get rid of us. If we were drunk and or inappropriate in any shape or form, I could see the rush to get rid of us. ( this was our first tasting)
In summary We were greeted by a vocab challenged snooty lady, then an uncomfortable seating, rushed experience, AND then pretty much got kicked out. Needless to say, I will never go back to long shadows, and obviously will never recommend it to anyone. At the end of the day, service, ambiance and quality of each interaction is what defines a good establishment. You can always find a good glass of red but good service, warm welcome and understanding the needs of your customers is what keeps that door open.

The tasting room located in Woodinville is a beautiful classy space with high-tops, couches and incredibly friendly service staff! I've been several times and Norm always takes great care of me! Some coworkers and I went yesterday and was taken care of by Sasha who was incredibly informative and wonderfully fun and funny!
Prices for these wines are on the higher end of the spectrum for sure, but that is due to the incredible quality of their wines combined with their numerous accolades. Here you will find plenty of good Cab, Merlot, Syrah as well as blends, several white options like Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc and a fantastic rosé that's an incredibly good price!
The team is always professional and courteous
When asked about wine tasting in Woodinville I often recommend a few of the same six or seven places to try but Long Shadows is always at the top...
Read moreI made a reservation weeks in advance at Long Shadows as one of our stops in Woodinville to celebrate our anniversary. Upon arrival, the worker could not locate our reservation nor even had it despite me showing the staff my confirmation email. This was evident by the staff rushing us through our tasting experience, as it lasted a total of 25 minutes (trying 6 wines) when all the previous tasting we attending at various other places lasted one and a half hours. My husband and I were looking to enjoying our wine tasting and savor each sip and take in the ambiance of the place. Instead, after less than 5 minutes of having our first wine, the staff decided it was time for to pour our second glass and asked me “if I needed a dump bucket for my wine”, implying either drink it or we are moving on. This happened again on the 3rd glass of wine and at this point I frankly didn’t want to continue our experience here but we politely finished the tasting, paid, and promptly left as we did not...
