I’ve always wanted to come here and really glad I did. But I don’t have any desire to go back… maybe in like a few years when the whole menu changes.
Pet friendly: N/A I went in the winter so their deck wasn’t set up. Not sure if they are pet friendly Family friendly: Yes Parking: Yes
FOOD: Roasted Mushroom Toast (Truffle Mascarpone, Sherry, Arugula) $16.00: 4 Star – this was the best thing of the night! Amazing flavor but of course you have to love the taste of truffle and arugula as there is a lot of both LOL The only reason this wasn’t a 5 star was due to the thickness of the toast. Way to thin that it hurt the roof of my mouth and impossible to cut.
Pomme Frites (with lemon aioli) $9.00: 3 Stars – I don’t care how nice the restaurant is, I need fries but not these fries apparently. They were super crunchy (note, I didn say crispy). Its like using an air fryer vs. deep frying. A good aioli will compliment any fries but these were sooo lemony and not in the good way.
House Made Bread Trio (Semolina, Rustic & Focaccia Breads, Tomato Conserva Olive Oil Verde, Whipped Butter, Sea Salt) $14: 2 Stars – Carbs! But there was ZERO salt in the bred, in the condiments (butter and what I thought was pesto). SALT! WE NEED SALT!
Crispy Chicken Parmesan Sandwich (Italian Salsa Verde, Tomato Jam, Red Cabbage Slaw, Cauliflower Pickles) $19: 2 Stars – hard pass. No to the tomato jam – too sweet, no to the slaw – too raw and no taste, no to the cauliflower – too sour (there usually complimentary flavors but not here). I like the chicken but it doesn’t taste like chicken LOL the flavor reminds me of Korean fish cake.
Bucatini Cacio E Pepe (egg, Pecorino Brodo) $26: 3 Stars – I don’t even know if I can say the flavor is there because there was absolutely no sauce. But the pasta was cooked to al dente! And… yea…
Dungeness Crab Pappardelle (sweet corn cream, scallions, Piment d Espelette) $35 – Besides the toast, this was the most appetizing looking dish. Flavor was good but I kind of hate that the most expensive item was the most tasty. Do I need to always send the big bucks to get a good meal here?
MENU / RESTAURANT: We were told they do not push out the dinner menu until it hits dinner time. I’m assuming its because they were still working on it but very weird. What people assume is HH pricing should be some kind of discount but not here folks! Its the exact same price. HH here means this is the food they offer between these hours.
Restaurant is very nice, very intimate but also very inviting for group meals. Good atmosphere but I’m sure it’ll be great if the fire pit that takes up so much room was working.
SERVICE: Lara was a great server. Very attentive, accommodating, and friendly. She probably made the experience memorable since the...
Read moreThe wife and I stopped by on a recent Saturday night. We've been here several times now and generally enjoy the restaurant. This Saturday I had the Spaghetti pomodore and my wife had the brussel sprouts and a cup of red pepper soup. My wife adores the brussel sprouts (as long as they're fully cooked - there have been times when she felt they were a bit underdone), and this time was no exception. The soup was pretty good as well, though maybe the tomato base was a bit too prominent. My spaghetti was also OK, with fresh ingredients. A bit more spice flavor would have enhanced the dish I think, but it was still enjoyable. In the past we've also gotten the fries and nachos with brisket, both of which were quite good we thought.
Service was prompt and friendly. No complaints there. As others have noted, the restaurant has a very good wine list, and if you order Delille wines you're paying winery retail prices (so very reasonable by restaurant standards). Otherwise, the wine mark ups here are generally pretty gentle. In my opinion, this is one of the strongest features of the restaurant.
That being said, this is a pretty expensive place to eat. Delille wine isn't cheap, so you're still looking at a fairly hefty alcohol bill. On the positive side, most of what they make is quite good. Food prices also struck us as pretty high. Appetizers are generally in the $20 range (some a bit less, some a bit more), pastas are in the $30+ range, and most entrees are in the $40 or more range. I don't have a problem paying those prices if it's justified, but I'm not sure it is here. This isn't an elegant restaurant, wait staff aren't in liviried attire, everything is a la carte (including the bread), and portion sizes are modest (other than the brussel sprouts order, which is always pretty good size). In fact, my wife was concerned that we hadn't ordered enough food when she saw my $30 spaghetti plate (it was a very ungenerous portion of pasta - looking more like an appetizer portion).
That being said, this is still a pretty enjoyable place to visit and I'm sure we'll be back. Hopefully next time they'll have the nachos back...
Read moreDon’t know what the fuss is all about. We have had better. Made reservations for a booth and when asked online to check box if it was a special occasion we checked anniversary, as it was to celebrate our 29th. Upon arrival the host seemed put out because we had reserved a booth. He went to ask waitress and then came back to tell us it was ok. When seated, all booths were empty but they chose to seat us next to the dishwasher in the back instead of the ones with a better ambiance. The rest of the booths remained empty all evening. Waitress was bit rude and irritated in her attitude when I inquired (politely) about the received salad being completely different than the menu description. It felt like a bait and switch with rudeness on top. The menu said it was supposed to have cherries and pecans on it and it did NOT! She became argumentative when I asked nicely about it. Clearly the menu said cherries and pecans and she insisted it did not. But in the end she said she could get them if I wanted them and I told her I did. After that, the energy shifted and I was no longer comfortable. The whole evening was soured. The meal that followed was nothing special, mediocre at best, lacking flavor and the vegetables over done.
I found it odd that there was not one mention of our anniversary, which made me wonder why I was asked in the first place, when making the reservation. The restaurant didn’t seem happy to have us there at all. Slow service and the ambiance felt more like a claim jumper than a fine dining boutique winery experience. Sorry DeLille to bother you with our pocket book. We will stick to Purple and Barking Frog in the future where we are more appreciated. We get treated nicer there and they stand...
