City View Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Woodlawn

I attended City View Bar &Grill with some friends on June 29th around 1pm and I was not satisfied with customer service. First the hostess tells us we can sit anywhere near the bar ,then a manager tells us we have to get up because it was reserve .That was a Lie ,no sign on the table, he made us move because one of their regulars who visits he sat them their, Uh! rude and so not good customer service. Second , one of the waitress (young lady with Blonde hair /ponytail)walk pass us and did not say can I help you or can I get you something to drink no menus or anything .However; I watched her go to two tables down from us and started talking and taking orders I assume another regular customer. I repeatedly watch waitresses go too their regular customers and chit chat and serve them. It was so obvious. While this was taking place one of the managers short light brown skin older lady was walking around with paper in hand figuring out what waitress had what table but in the meantime customers whom they never seen before was sitting their with nothing to drink.or a menu. I found this very disturbing unorganized and poor customer service. Had I not pull the manager (assumng) up I would not have gotten any service unless I went to the bar.. My food was horrible I asked for crab fries well it came with cheddar cheese crabmeat and not hot. Mozzarella stick was delicious. I felt so bad for the waitress(Rochrll or Rosetta she was just trying to help) we did finally get because she was doing her best to give good customer service even though she was working under unorganized supervisor trying to assigned tables while restuarant was already open and customers were already seated. I frequent visited this establishment years ago when it was Pargos and when it turned over to City View Bar & Grill for various occasions but this was by far the worst customer service I recieved. the only thing that did put a smile on my face was the fact that the music was nice. The one thing I do is support everyone not sure if I would revisit due to poor customer service. To mention when I called on Monday July 1st just why did the hostess or whomever she was answer the phone and say Oh yeah I am one of the managers after telling me she was not because she first though thought I was someone calling about a bad food order. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE! It is poorly operated.

My party was seated by music speakers so loud we had to scream at each other to converse. The music played was good but no matter where you were seated the volume alone will onset a headache and it is dangerous in the event of an emergency.

This place is basically a nightclub, people stand around in the aisles the servers utilize to deliver your food, just people watching. Basically they let in more people then they have chairs and tables.

It was freezing outside and our table was also near an emergency exit that was being continuously utilized.

The food was mediocre at best. Food service was slow. Basic orders was screwed up, server dropped food at the table and every time after that we had to flag her down. No customer service at all.

Be sure to read your receipt. Server tipped herself an 18% tip and add it to the bill. It is only supposed to be for a party of 5 however each individual person at my table was charged this. Considering the service was atrocious, beware of this. Typically this place don’t split checks, it may only be done as a favor, remember that if your here with multiple people.

Good Luck finding parking, especially on the weekends. Small, tight parking lot. It is also in the location of a shady hotel, be careful if you decide to park over there, sketchy characters loiter in the area.

It seems this establishment or individual servers utilizes a “make em wait” technique to gain extra money from a person paying with cash. You will be told to go to the bar to pay your bill or depending on the server, they will run off with your money and hide out in the kitchen area. You will wait until it seems your getting tired of waiting and you decide the wait is not worth the change and leave your money and the server subsequently keeps it, that’s on top of your 18% you already been charged. Pay with a card or be persistent about getting your change, regardless of the amount. It’s the principal here. It also may take a long time to receive your bill at all, so just be persistent.

I enjoy patronizing black business, but when it is run as poorly as this place, it does the black community a great disservice because there are so few of them. It is sad because this place has so much potential. With better management and investment this place...

A friend referred my hubby and I bcuz of the live band, I loved it. The food? TERRIBLE. We went on Saturday night. The cajun wing appetizers should have been my warning about what to expect. They were cold and bland. With a reccomendation from the waiter, I ordered the broiled flounder topped with sauteed shrimp on a bed of sauteed spinach and a garlic cream sauce. When the waiter brought my plate to the table and all I saw was the bright ORANGE cream sauce (tasted like pureed carrots) dumped ALL OVER the 3 boiled shrimp and the flounder, I should have sent it back. How can such a simple dish be ruined? The tablespoon size of spinach(not a bed) was sauteed in a heavy oil (not olive oil) and inedible. Luckily I filled up on the salad, bread and the rest of the now ice cold cajun wings. When the waiter came to get my plate and saw that I didnt eat much even after I tried to scrape off the "sauce", he tried to get it taken off my bill to no avail. Management said "NO" and didn't even bother to come speak to me about the problem. My hubby ordered the Chicken Alfredo. The chicken was some kind of mashed together meat product. It wasnt real chicken. It was edible but NOTHING was seasoned. So althought I liked the band, we dont have a reason to revisit bcuz we dont drink. The band wasnt great enough to have me spend all that money for plain salad and bread. That was my 1st and LAST visit. The crowd was adult mature and music great. However management and the food left much to be desired. Oh, btw...since my food was terrible I didnt plan to leave a tip since I had to pay for a meal I didnt eat.
