My friends and I came to visit Woodstock for the day and we were looking for a delicious spot to end our night, we were recommended by a worker at a local diner to try out Angkor and raved about how awesome the chicken wings were. We are from a place in MA considered to be “Little Cambodia” so my friends and I are pretty spoiled when it comes to eating delicious Cambodian and Thai/Vietnamese food so naturally we were so excited to try out Angkor when we found out it was a Cambodian restaurant! First impression was not good unfortunately, the waitress was not very pleasant and was not willing to accommodate us when we requested to hold the veggies in the “fried rice” she said it was already premade lol for spending almost $20 on a plate of “fried rice” I would expect the restaurant to make a fresh batch for their customer. The rice came out so stale and the chicken in the rice was dry and I wouldn’t even consider the rice to be fried. The wings are crispy yes BUT they are tasteless. Now onto the drunken noodle…. DISAPPOINTED! Drunken noodles is my favorite dish so I know my stuff, and I honestly don’t know what I was served. The sauce was not pleasant and I immediately noticed the noodles were not wide rice noodles which is what should be used in a drunken noodle plate. I asked the waitress what kind of noodles were used to make this dish and she responded “lo mein noodles” lol the coconut shrimp was good which was shared with my friend and I. We spend $100 on food we were not satisfied with and the service was not very friendly, safe to say we left hungry and upset. This place has potential and should work on their recipes and do some more research on flavors and ingredients that should be applied to specific dishes. Best of...
Read moreBland, overpriced; not even “good for the middle of nowhere” if that’s the scale you’re using. Much like the majority of restaurants in Woodstock, this place doesn’t do the area’s restaurant scene any justice.
I’m honesty only giving a second star because the food was edible and didn’t make anyone sick, which counts for something. The price point was shockingly high for what we received; mushy noodles with very little protein, haphazardly cut/cooked vegetables, and staggeringly bland sauces. I’m kicking myself for not listening to the member of our group who has been to Cambodia and Thailand and had tried this place a year ago and hated it; I thought perhaps she was just expecting too much. Nope. Even for a small town this restaurant is not even “average”, and the high reviews must stem from a slew of aging golfing vacationers who don’t want any flavor in their food. I’d recommend that the owners of this place take a hard look at the food they’re putting out and see what can be done to improve the quality. I realize this sounds harsh, but it was honestly THAT disappointing.
Craving good Thai food while you’re staying in Woodstock? Spend a bit of extra time and drive to Tuk Tuk in Hanover. It’s worlds better and only about a 25 minute drive. (Plus everything in that town is open later, with incredible gelato at Morano....
Read moreI had just moved back to the area and after driving by a few times my cousin and I wanted to check the place out. The atmosphere is alright and the people are very friendly. We ordered the coconut chicken wing and the Thai roll for appetizers along with a Thai tea. The tea was amazing, as out waitress stated, "it is as if having dessert b-4 dinner." The Thai roll was very good and the chicken wings were nice, a little heat. For dinner my cousin had a noodle bowl where as I had a stir-fry (red) Curry Chicken. The bowl was huge but it lacked a lot of flavor since the stock was without seasonings and did not taste as if it had been a true stock. The curry chicken stir-fry was very disappointing, as the chicken seemed to have been bliled and not stir fired. The chicken taste was not significant and was not hot. The dish had few vegetables and the sauce was week with curry. Maybe because we went there on Jan. 1, 2016 the food seemed to lack a lot. Although the girls were very nice, I feel they could be dressed more...
