Today was the worst experience ever! I ordered a house burger with cheddar cheese, lettuce and grilled onions with fries for a side. When my burger came out, I took a bite of it and it was swimming in grease! The grease was dripping all over my hands. The bottom bun was soggy too. And the burger itself was breaking up in pieces and wasn’t a full patty. So I went up to the counter and took the top bun off and showed the guy at the counter. He apologized and asked to see my ticket to know what toppings I had on it to remake it. Well the second burger came out and was even more greasy. The burger again was sliding off and breaking up into pieces. I took one bite and the burger was pink in places. That’s something I don’t like is eating undercooked meat especially in today’s world. I asked on a previous visit for my burger to be cooked well done. The girl taking my order said, “oh you don’t have to ask for that because we cook all our burgers well done.” Uh-huh, yeah right! Seems like they have a bunch of young people cooking in the kitchen that don’t care about the quality of their food. There is NO REASON why a burger should be swimming in grease all because I added grilled onions. When I grill or sauté onions at home for a burger, I use a slotted spoon and allow the onions to drain before putting on a burger. You can’t just take onions or cook a burger and slop it on a bun without letting the grease drain from the food. Basic cooking 101! So I didn’t get up a second time and make a scene. By this time my appetite was gone. The grease made me sick. I drove all the way down to Woodstock from the mountains of Jasper for a...
Read moreThis is the place that all the other burger places wish they could be. The burgers are well cooked and the toppings are fresh. The fries are fantastic and come seasoned (Lawry's Seasoning Salt, I think) or not. Fresh cut, too. They also do a special burger every two weeks. This week's wasn't a burger but a chicken strip, sweet chili burger with slaw and pickles. One of the best "burgers" that I have had in my life!
If you've read my reviews on other burger joints, and I'm sure you haven't, you'll see that I believe a burger should be good and affordable. This boutique burger binge that people seem to be on, paying $15 and up for just a burger? Ridiculous. This place gets it. Good food and even better prices. My family of four got out for less than $40. I can't get out of Canyon's for less than $40 for just me and one of the girls. And VB's burgers are just as good...for less than half the price.
Only complaint would be to put the soda fountain where it was accessible to the customers. Getting refills is a little awkward and you feel like you're in the way for other people ordering. I get it. It's a design decision and probably does save some money, it's just awkward.
Congratulations on doing the "burger joint" thing well! And it appears they are adding beer and wine to the menu soon if that's...
Read moreWe were looking for something new to try in Woodstock and found Village Burger. It's an all American restaurant with burgers, hot dogs, wings, salads and desserts.
We ordered a Philly Cheese Steak and a Village Burger.
The Philly cheese steak was alright. I prefer more bell pepper and onions, it also seemed like a smaller sandwich. If I were to order this again, I'd add more bell pepper and meat. The cheese steak is buttery, cheesy and savory.
They have a hamburger building system, you tell them what you want on your burger, or you can pick from the core menu. The Village Burger is a "build yourself burger" with two patties, which are flat. The burger was good and savory.
This is a good place with many options, we'd definitely go back and try more hamburgers. Their prices are similar to Buffalos and the food is fresh and hot! The staff was friendly, they gave good suggestions when asked, it was clean and has a good, laid-back...
