This review was going to be just about the food, but it was the experience that put Burger Inn over the top. I have been driving by this place for years, always passing it up because I was judging a book by its cover. Big mistake. From a food perspective, it is a really good greasy spoon lunch counter place (meant as a compliment)...my son and I had cheeseburgers, onion rings, fries and chili dogs. All were exactly what you would expect them to be, extremely fresh and tasty, not frozen and microwaved...and the prices seems to be amazingly stuck in the 1990's. But it was not the food that would bring me back, it was the people. The clientele all seemed like regulars. We had great conversations with several other diners. I love that kind of atmosphere. But the absolute best part...as I was waiting for a drink refill, I saw an employee walking an elderly customer back to his car after he finished his lunch. It almost brought a tear to my eye. I think I overheard her say that she has been working at the Burger Inn since 1985. For all these reasons, go to the Burger Inn. Don't just pass it by. You...
Read moreEDIT: They switched to preformed mass food service supply "burger" patties and the place kinda sucks now. It's a shame. Their old burgers were AWESOME and less than $5. I would pay double that or more for that burger. Here's my original review of that first burger:
It takes 10 or 12 minutes to get a burger here! To get anything, really. Even when there's nobody in line in front of you! Which is why I gave them five stars. Your food is made to order. They don't start it until you finish ordering it. It is among the finest of cheeseburgers, and consistent from day to day. We are talking hand patted patties, I'd love to know where they get their tomatoes. their produce is all crispy in the right places and juicing all the others. They make their biscuits from scratch every morning. Their eggs are divine. Their cooks really know what they're doing. The staff is super friendly. they have time to chat with you at the window because well, it takes a few minutes to grill a burger made just for you. They close at 3:00 so......
Read moreWe were super excited to try this place thanks to awesome reviews on Facebook and Google, but were left disappointed. First, the young lady taking our order was extremely rude and really left us with a sour feeling. I was most excited to try the cinnamon rolls, but she quickly told us “don’t have any.” Additionally, AFTER we finished paying, we were told it would be 15-20 min for biscuits to be ready. I really wish we were told this before we finished paying as the checkout lady clearly knew this information prior. We got an bacon, egg and cheese biscuit and a sausage egg and cheese biscuit, which we ordered for “here,” but were called at the counter for “to-go,” while others around us got their food on plates. The biscuits were good, but pretty dry and crumbly. We definitely needed a big sip of water after each bite. Anyway, we tried it and probably will not return. Locals seemed to know each other inside and enjoy each other’s company, which was...
