Bob Evans — Restaurant in Wooster

I don’t usually do reviews BUT today warrants a review. I only hope this is shared with the team on how to handle customer service and at least attempt to make an accident right for the customer. My son and I were having brunch with my dad at your restaurant today. When the server brought our food he accidentally dropped the syrup from the tray and it went all over my dads dress shirt, dress pants, shoe and coat that was hanging on the back of his chair. The server apologized and brought a warm wash cloth so my dad could try to clean up. I understand accidents happen. We enjoyed the rest of our brunch time together trying not to focus on his sticky clothes and shoe. At the end of us eating, our waitress brought our bill. I honestly was shocked! I thought the waitress or server would at least offer to comp my dads portion of the bill. Nope! My dad paid our full bill, left a tip for the waitress AND will also get to pay $20+more on a dry cleaning bill to get his dress pants, dress shirt and coat cleaned. My dad wouldn’t say anything because that’s the type of person he is but commented on the way to his car he was surprised he was charged for his meal. Just a small jester to make things right, but nothing. I usually wouldn’t say anything but it makes me sad. Today warrants a very poor customer service rating in hopes you will train your staff to do better next time(even though I honestly hope there’s not a next time for anyone). My family & I stopped at this establishment on 11/2/24 around 10am. When we entered there was a couple in front of us waiting to be seated. The server & the manager were openly joking/discussing where to place them & didn't seem like they knew what to do. After we were seated the server took our order & brought our drinks. My son dropped his straw so I asked for another one. She asked what color he wanted etc but then never brought one. Once the food came my husband had asked for loaded potatoes & they weren't. She told him he never asked for them (he did). Our table also went without drink refills for too long. All of this was going to be overlooked until I got halfway through my potatoe soup & found several pieces of a tag/plastic. I brought it to her attention & again she told me it was from the tag on their soup box. She said she removed it from my bill but never brought me a new receipt. I walked in for lunch with my mom. The staff was very friendly. Dining area seemed to have a rushed cleaning job, like they wanted it done more than they wanted it actually clean. The bathroom was a similar story. The top of the toilet was clean, but not the bottom. There was a bad stench and the door was really heavy.

I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries and mac n cheese. I also ordered coffee, which was really good. The burger was a little greasy and the tomatoes were sliced a bit too thick. The onions had a weird spaghetti squash like consistency to them as well. Other than that I enjoyed the burger. The fries were bland and the mac n cheese was very ordinary. Not much to note there. For dessert I ordered a slice of chocolate peanut butter pie and some of their cinna-biscuits. The biscuits were warm and flakey, which was good, however I'm not a fan. The slice of pie was VERY sweet and I could not finish it.

Overall the experience left my belly full but that's about it. Not great.
