I'd like to share a review of my recent experience at the Wooster Longhorn; I am rarely impassioned to write reviews, but as a business owner myself, I am mystified by the poor treatment & negligent customer service I received directly from Chris, the manager, who disguises himself as benevolent. Recently, I placed a curbside order, directly over the phone with another manager. She was very pleasant, competent, and accommodating; to the extent that she offered to provide me with a "family discount" since my nephew is also one of the managers. At the end of the order, she went back through and verified everything, informing me that my bill totaled $86.97, but clarified that when the order would actually be processed at the time of pick up, the discount would be factored in. However the next day after I picked up the order, I noticed in my bank account that the pending withdrawal amount to Longhorn was $86.97. I called and spoke to the manager who had taken my order & offered me the discount. Her conclusion was that it was an oversight, apologized, and assured me she would adjust the amount to include the discount. She instructed me to double-check my bank account later on that day. For this, I thanked her. Unfortunately, what actually took place later on that day was I received a call from Chris, head manager. He informed me the manager who had taken my order had mistakenly offered me the discount, (his explanation was that during the corona ordeal the discount policy had changed). I pointed out that in fact this was not my mistake. Additionally, I pointed out that since I was receiving a discount, I ordered additional food that I normally would not have ordered without it. Nonetheless, this made no difference to him as he rigidly stated, several times, that people make mistakes and reiterated that I would not be receiving the discount. In my business, I've always instructed my employees that if a discrepancy arises with a customer, that it's always to our advantage to accommodate the customer; particularly if we had made a mistake. The reasoning is simple; this is a "defining moment" that reinforces and emphasizes how we prioritize customer service ahead of profits. Our logic is that without good customer service there are no profits. Unfortunately, in Chris' case, the obvious priority is profits over customer service. It's inexplicable to me how Chris can foster a sense of integrity when his position is "Yes, it was our fault, but I don't care, we're not standing behind the erroneous information that we provided to you." NO DISCOUNT. I can't support any business that purports such a...
Read moreExtremely disappointed with our experience on Saturday 4/7/2018. My family had been planning a family dinner for about three weeks and we chose Longhorn as a couple of us had gift cards. My husband called ahead to reserve a table and we were told we could not make a reservation only call ahead. He asked what time he should call back and the hostess stated she would put us down but the wait would still be 40 minutes. We were completely fine with the wait. We arrived and were told the wait was an hour. Again, completely fine with the wait as we had a party of 8. We had waited about an hour when a male hostess told us they had two tables one which was a both. He stated that although not together the tables were very close. Hesitant I still accepted as he said they are very close. As we were seated, the tables were not close at all. It was very important that we go out to eat and sit together as a family. My sister asked the waitress if there was anything she could do and the waitress grabbed the manager. The manger came over and said there was nothing they could do that the restaurant did not accommodate large party's. She also stated to my mom that she could not just tell people to leave. We would never ask someone to leave we just wanted to sit together as a family. We noticed a large booth of people leaving and asked if we could take their seat after the table was cleaned. The waitress claimed that the booth was for 6 people and stated she was unsure how we would fit. The bus person cleaned the table and we all sat and fit perfectly in the booth. The bus girl threw menus on the table after we all had menus and said I don't know where to put these there is not room. We were also told we would be receiving another waitress. She was the best part of the experience. Very attentive and willing to get us whatever we wanted. Unfortunately the food fell short as my sister and brother received steaks that were very overdone. My brother asked for a new steak which took another 10 minutes to get to the table. We were at the establishment for 3 hours. The manager did apologize for the food. Fortunately, for our waitress our bills totaled over $300 and we did tip her generously. I don't know that I would ever go back with a party...
Read moreWe were seated right away, the bar was empty but the dining room was busy. I was hoping to get a dark heavy beer like a porter, but they didn't have anything like that. The server did bring me a couple of tasters though to help me decide between a couple of Lake Erie options, and she didn't skimp on those at all, probably 4oz each!
My wife and I decided to split their big porterhouse steak, The Longhorn (22oz!), we would have ordered an appetizer but a hot, soft, and delicious loaf of table bread arrived before we ordered so that became the app.
We ordered an extra side and salad to compliment the shared entree and WOW. The steak was delicious! My wife usually likes rare but she indulged me and we ordered medium-rare, and you MUST get their Mac and Cheese! Super creamy and delicious with bacon and seasoning.
The only real issue here was that there was a lot of rare meat in my medium-rare order. It was good, but not to order.
I overheard someone complaining that there was pink in their 'well-done' order as well. I tried not to judge them for ordering well-done, but that table also got some free ice creams because it was their birthday, also funny because it was delivered by a parade of not very enthusiastic faces.
It's hard to not give five stars because the food was so good, but the chef on Sunday was clearly in a hurry to get the steaks out.
Went back again, ordered the same thing, best steak in...
