Mariscos La Sirena — Restaurant in Worth Township

I went to this establishment at the recommendation of my sister. Mind you this is on New Years Eve, that was mistake number 1. AFTER we paid, we were told 30-45 minutes as a wait for our order containing SIX items. I asked about our order and was told “a few minutes.” I informed the host of how long we had been waiting and what our order contained to be told to step aside for safety and to maintain distance (I was a least a few feet away and closer to other customers than the employee). We ended up getting our food after an hour and a half of waiting (45 minutes after my inquiry). When the order was brought to us, it was missing the most important item after that long wait; the alcohol. We got home only to find that the order was not correct 😡.

Unfortunately we weren’t the only ones waiting an extremely long time. While we were waiting we found out that there were others who had been promised a specific pick up time, only to have their food given to them an hour (or longer) after the promised time.

If you don’t have the staff to handle the orders, don’t take the orders or suggest a different pick up time. Tell customers the wait time before they place the order and pay. Lastly, the mask you wear needs to cover your nose so if you’re going to preach safety guidelines practice it yourself before you preach to me...

I have both good and bad news. Good news is that food was good! Everyone in my party seemed to enjoy the food and that is 2 stars out of 5 already! The third star is because I didn’t try the drinks, but they looked really creative! The visual appeal deserves that 3rd star.

Now here’s why I took 2 stars off. Service. The service wasn’t terrible, but could’ve been a lot better. I never been to a restaurant where I didn’t want to tip until I came here. The only reason why I say this is because I had to ask for refill, had to ask for plates to be taken away, I had to ask the server to do their job (micromanaging), I don’t know about some of you, but as someone who served before, the best tips came from people who didn’t have to ask to be serviced. Maybe server was new, but didn’t seem that way. This was just one person, maybe I got unlucky, but I hope this reaches the servers, because someone got a mandatory gratuity charge as tip, but I feel like what they did for us is stuff I could’ve done easily (obviously, right?) As I always say, if I could do it myself, I would have. I’m not coming back here because of that mandatory gratuity charge, some deserve it but honestly some don’t and I think...

The food and service is really good, however I do not like the inconsistency. The first time I went I ordered a Hennessy margarita. It was in a small glass because Hennessy was considered “top shelf”. Since this was my first time I didn’t think anything of it. The second time I came I ordered another Hennessy margarita. This time around the drink was in a big glass and came with a small Hennessy shooter on top. When I came the first time I did not receive the same size drink, but they were the same price. Today is my third time coming and I was shown another level of inconsistency. I ordered a Don Julio shot. It came in a bigger glass than usual. I confirmed with the waitress if this was a single shot and she said “yes”. So I proceeded to order another shot, this time it was Hennessy. This shot came in a smaller glass. Both shots were straight up. So I asked the waitress why was one shot in a bigger glass and the other shot in a smaller glass. She was unable to accurately answer the question.
