Franco's Tomato Pies — Restaurant in Yardley

Updated review I still really enjoy the food here but I don’t like when ordering delivery that they ring the doorbell and just leave the food outside your door in the rain. Also, when leaving the food on the ground they obstruct the door from opening.

I understand if someone made the driver wait a while but we were right near the door as you can see the door opening and the driver walking to their car. I understand the need to do this during the pandemic but I’m not sure why this is still being done.

Prior review We ordered from Franco’s Tomato Pies and had a really great meal. Who would have known we had such a good pizza place in our backyard. We ordered a Sicilian pizza with 1/2 mushrooms and a tomato pie, because who doesn’t order a tomato pie when it’s in the name. My wife went in to pickup the pizzas and she said everyone was really pleasant.

The Sicilian pizza has a good crust which was crunchy and a deliciously puffy dough. The mushrooms tasted fresh and cheese was delicious. The tomato pie was really good. I debated on giving two or three stars. This place just wasn’t for me. I went by some of the better reviews and I regret it. First off someone mentioned how “fresh” their calamari was. I don’t think this person has ever had any good quality calamari if they call this fresh. It was your run of the mill frozen calamari that most low quality pizza shops sell. And they put my calamari on a bed of wilted Romain lettuce that oddly was very wet and had some questionable brown spots. I didn’t finish it. Next was the pizza. I got their tomato pie with two toppings. As mentioned, the sauce is sweet. This fact excited me up until I took my first bite. It taste like someone dumped an entire bag of sugar in their tomato sauce by accident. The sweetness is by no means subtle. That sauce is so sweet it almost tastes like you could use it as a fruit topping on some ice cream. This may not have been as bad if it was able to be offset by some of the saltier/milder incredients like the sauce and the cheese. But they piled so much into the pizza it was overpowering. I've ordered pizza many times from Franco's and it is always pretty good. On Saturday night, I ordered, it took forever to be delivered. When I opened the box, I immediately saw that the basil I ordered and paid for on the side, was not in the box. Then I realized that the pizza was not just not hot, but BARELY WARM...pretty much cold. I called and spoke to someone who put me on hold. Another person came on, I assumed he was the manager or owner. When I complained about the pizza not being hot, he started to argue with me and basically told me that they make the pizza and it's brought right to the house and if it doesn't stay hot, then that's just the way it is. REALLY? What about the heat packs they put around them to keep them warm? What about the fact that I'm literally down the street and it would take no more than 90 seconds to drive to my house? He also never offered to credit my bill for the missing basil or to send someone over with it. Well, there are 2 other pizza places in our little town that are just as good, so they will get my business from now on. ...
