The best place to eat and drink in York, I always make a point to visit when I am in town. Collusion's tap selection contains an assortment of beers of all kind. In the several times I've been there and in all of the taps I tasted, they were each uniquely delicious in their own way. I was happy to see they even had some mead to drink, which is a personal favorite of mine.
What really blew me away though was the refreshing and unique amount of options for food. Definitely not your standard bar food. Their take on 'bar food' is several notches above anything I'd expect to be served at a bar/restaurant. It really sets a new standard for the kind of food places should be serving - and in my opinion, lives right up to the quality of the beer being served too.
Finally, the atmosphere and quality of service completes my 5 star review. Each time the service has been timely and friendly. The opportunity to play board games was nice, the logo looks really good on the merch and is actually something I'd wear out (I bought a shirt). The 'tap works' aesthetic itself looks really good on brick/wood interior they have going on.
Every aspect of Collusion has surpassed my expectations of what I'd expect to find in York. Go for the beers, stay for the food...
Read moreHad read about this place so we had to try it on a Sunday after church for a quick lunch. They are located in a hard to find building, facing a newly built parking lot, but not facing any main streets. So if you are trying this place for the first time, and not seeing it right away, it's off of a side street south of King, and west of Queen. It has a cool ambiance when you walk in - they definitely feature their beers on a large board above the bar. Lots of options to choose from. If you like trying different flavors of beers, this place has a lot of choices - pumpkin this, blackberry that, etc... Me, I prefer my beer to taste like a beer - I guess I am a traditionalist. For me, there were a few options on the beer menu (kolsch, barley wine, hard cider, and a couple of porters/stouts). What I had was good, and I would definitely go back again. But most of their variety of choices involve non-traditional beer flavors (i.e. fruit, pumpkin, cappucino, chocolate, etc....) We also had sandwiches for lunch (shrimp salad melt, along with grilled cheese w/ pulled pork). The sandwiches were very good, and we ended up with a nice lunch. We will definitely return again, just hoping that they have a few more simple, traditional...
Read moreCollusion has been spot on with their beer selection since day 1. The beer selection is always quite large and dynamic with much to choose from. It's hard to say that any of them are bad, although I am partial to the IPA selections, which are phenomenal and a point of strength for the brewer.
The brewery itself is nestled into a back alley in York City and can be a bit of a pain to locate for first timers. Easy to miss the street. The building itself isn't huge, so it can get cramped quickly if they are busy. A downside considering they've become quite popular and I imagine it may be soon time to expand!
The bar can get busy and the tenders sometimes seem like they'd rather be anywhere but behind it, but overall is fine. The food was not impressive in the early years, but they've come a long way. I find that most items on the menu are delicious. The kitchen crew is doing a great job.
Overall, this is one of my favorite breweries in the area. For a relatively small operation, they have a big menu and big tastes that rival local competition that seems to have invested far more into their property and facilities than providing a real beer...
