Summary: mid food, HORRIBLE customer service, rude staff. Do not go here if you don’t want a stressful meal.
I walked in and needed to use the bathroom very badly before I could sit down and order anything. I asked to go to their bathroom and she asked if I was a customer. I said yes, I’d love to try their food, but I desperately needed the bathroom first. She hesitated and said I needed to be a customer to use the bathroom, and I emphasized that I was very hungry and just needed to use the bathroom. She finally let me past to go to the bathroom then said they charge $5 to use the bathroom if you don’t buy anything. Fair enough, I completely understand, but it’s just a bathroom. There’s no need to protect it so strongly. It was also absolutely freezing in the bathroom. When I came out, she was standing at the front blocking the door and pointed towards the menus. She asked if we would be taking it to go or dining in, and we said dining in. I was there with a friend and asked if he wanted anything. He said no as he wanted to wait until he got home. I ordered a Thai tea and some teriyaki beef. She then asked again if we were taking it to go and I said no we’ll be eating there. She then said that my friend could not sit down with me while I ate because he wasn’t buying anything. The place was completely empty. She never said anything about their policy of charging an extra 20% for dine in meals. I had not noticed the signs explaining that policy. I don’t have an issue with that policy, either. It guarantees a tip for the server. What I have an issue with is having it in small text on papers posted in the store when there’s all kinds of signs and papers everywhere, making it difficult to notice if you’re not specifically looking at all the signs. When I questioned the price in a very calm and polite manner, she immediately began speaking to me in a very rude and condescending tone. She also told me that if I don’t agree with their policies then I shouldn’t waste my time speaking and I should leave. I didn’t understand what she was saying and then she showed me the paper that said it. She began slowly reading the paper as if I were a child, the paper which had poor grammar and took me a few reads to fully understand. English is hard, I understand the grammar mistakes, but speaking to me like that is exceptionally poor customer service and general manners. Once I understood it was essentially a tip built into the price, I was fine with it. She then went into the back and immediately began yelling in what I can only assume to be Tagalog. Also, the food was at least decent. It was not great, but reasonable for the price. The rice tasted like instant rice to me, not authentic Thai cuisine. I’ve had better rice from fast food restaurants. Overall, the restaurant looked like it could have been somewhat of a hidden gem, but the service was deplorable and the attitude from the woman in the front was terrible. I’ve seen other reviews emphasizing the great atmosphere and superb friendliness from the staff, and good for them they got lucky and had a good experience. But then they edit their reviews to say that those leaving negative reviews and complaining about poor customer service are wrong and just don’t know what they’re talking about. I’ve been trying working in customer service my whole life and I’ve never seen such horrible attitudes. The restaurant also replies to negative reviews saying things like, “we don’t need our restaurant to be ruined by cheap people,” “so disgusting to have cheap people come in our place and try to ruine our policies,” and “look at yourself before tell people how cheap you are.” It is absolutely astonishing to me that this restaurant has a...
Read moreJan 2022 Update: Been here several times over the past couple of months, and the food continues to be outstanding. Fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. We continue to try different items on the menu (lemongrass chicken, different noodle soups, panang curry, green curry, etc...) and everything comes out wonderfully. We have been trying different appetizers, as well. The food is the primary reason that we keep coming back. The woman who runs the dining area is also very friendly and takes good care of us. It's still a small place, with limited dine-in seating, but it's so worth it that we keep coming back.
April 2021 Update: During the Covid pandemic, they moved to take-out only (similar to other restaurants), but currently, they are also offering limited dine-in option. They have a very small seating area, so they can really only accommodate 3 tables of guests. We were in for dinner on a recent Saturday, and everyone in our party of 4 enjoyed the food very much (panang curry, green curry, spicy lemongrass chicken, as well as some fresh summer rolls). Food was very good and they do a great job on serving customers. We will definitely be back to enjoy more of their wonderful Thai food.
Updated Review: We have been back here on several different occasions over the past 4+ months now, bringing different people with us, and we have never had a bad experience here. We were just here this past weekend after not having been here for maybe 6-8 weeks, but the woman who takes care of the customers remembered us, and knew how spicy we like the food, we had a wonderful dinner. We tried several of the appetizers this time around (kani summer roll, thai sausage, as well as a pumpkin empenada), along with the usual dinner entrees. Everything was well prepared, fresh & flavorful. While it is not an extensive menu, everything that they make tastes wonderful. Great little spot - hope others are finding it, as well.
Original Review: We enjoy finding places that serve really good food, so I was noticing that some pretty good reviews on this little place, and just had to give it a try. It's a very small venue, probably only can seat about 25 people, so that may become an issue for them in the future if it becomes more popular. They serve primarily a Thai style menu, I believe. We tried some of their chicken dumplings & veggie dumplings for an appetizer, and they were delicious. We also had their chicken bbq entree, one of their tofu noodle bowls, and a green curry dish. All 3 entrees were wonderful - bursting with flavors, tasting fresh, and with great presentation. A large noodle bowl, by the way, is really big. It is a husband & wife operation, and they do a fantastic job. The food is really good, and the service was very good, as well. We will definitely be back, and we hope more people find this...
Read moreI experienced very poor customer service and blatant racism at this restaurant.
My friend and I decided to go here for lunch. We waited very long for our food. When my friend’s meal came out it was a completely different meal than the one she had ordered. Once our correct meals finally came out (we ordered the exact same thing, a vegetarian pho) I took one small bite and tasted a “shrimp/fishy” taste. I asked the server if there was any shrimp in the meal (indicating that I have an extreme shellfish allergy). She said the broth was made with “shrimp paste”. I politely explained my allergy, my friend also explained that she too does not eat shellfish and we requested a different meal (this is all while feeling myself beginning to have a slight allergic reaction to the small sip I took of the broth). She refused to switch out my meal and told me the only way I could get something else was if I paid for both the meal I was allergic to as well as the new meal. She then began insulting my intelligence. My friend and I remained extremely calm trying to get the server to understand the severity of the situation. She then tells us that she was going to call the police on us in order to get this all worked out. I was baffled at the fact that she felt the need to get the police involved when there was no disturbance of the peace happening in any way shape or form. Not to mention the fact that we had both already paid for our meals(the meal I was extremely allergic to). Another black woman had come into the restaurant to pick up food and asked us if we liked the food there. She seen we hadn’t eaten our meals and asked why. We explained the situation and she asked the server why we couldn’t just order something different to eat. The server then threatened to call the police on her as well. The women told us that if she doesn’t want to switch the meals we should at least get our money back. To fast forward the story, we paid for these meals that we couldn’t eat, had the police called on us anyway (the police said it would be a while before they could get there since it wasn’t an emergency situation). We asked to speak to the manager. The server called her manager and he told her that we were right and demanded that she give us our money back. As she is reluctantly giving us our money back she proceeded to ask “how do I know you’re REALLY allergic?” ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I just couldn’t believe she asked me that. ( How about the fact that I paid for a meal that you...
