The service was horrible. Our waiter came to the table and squat down next to us while taking our order. she forgot to bring us our drinks and not only that she forgot to bring us lemons when we asked for lemons with our water three times on the third time we asked someone else if they could bring us lemons and they told us that they weren’t our waiter and walked away when our waiter came back out she brought our food and appetizers all at the same time usually at all the restaurants I go to appetizers are brought out first and then the main course is that something new?! and still forgot our lemons once the food came out! once the lemons came out we weren’t able to put the lemons in our water because they weren’t cut to squeeze! I would also like to say how One of our guests found hair in their food and our hush puppies were burnt. I also would like to say how unprofessional the staff dress and acted when all of this was said and done we went to the hostess at the front to ask for our check and to speak with a manager and she told us that she was the manager and we had complaints about her and our waiter. She then proceeds to say that she’s going to get someone for us to talk to. she went and got the real manager and lied to us about her being the manager. the real manager was very nice and under standing. so disappointed!!!😡

Brought a guest with me to this place after looking for a place for monday brunch (on labor day nontheless!). We decided on the roost special, a vegetarian version of the roost special (don't recall the name), crispy french toast, and pimiento grits. The savory dishes were delicious, I've never had biscuits and gravy as a vegetarian and they made it with a smoked mushroom gravy and fried cauliflower- great choice! Crunchy, creamy, savory just a good combination :) my guest shared the same sentiment. The crispy french toast is actually not toast but fried slices of bread pudding-this made it a little more dense than I was expecting. After eating the smothered biscuit it is a lot to take in so we didn't even finish. Lastly the pimiento grits were fine as far as texture but the flavor/seasoning left a little to be desired (but everyone is different, I love good buttery salty grits). This place is located downtown with off street parking. Inside it reminds me of a homey country kitchen:) overall I had a great experience and would be back if I'm in town again.

Roost is our new favorite brunch spot in York! After recently moving to the area, we got several recommendations to check this place out. We stopped in on a Sunday morning, thinking we were going to have to wait awhile for a table, but we were able to be seated right away. I feel like most people go to Round the Clock or Bob Evans for breakfast on the weekend, but those people are SLEEPING on Roost. It’s a gem tucked into the heart of York, with a fun, eclectic atmosphere and a fun staff. They accommodate families with children as well, having a separate space in the back where the kids can explore a couple arcade games and just be kids. The garbage biscuit has been a fan-favorite among our group, but I’m personally a fan of their cannoli French toast. It’s a good portion and not overly sweet. Perfect when paired with a side of eggs or breakfast meat. There’s plenty of street parking around, but there’s free parking a the garage across from the White Rose on weekends.

Probably the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. We were seated relatively quickly, and that was the only positive part. Our server pretty much ignored us for about 15 minutes. Once she actually took our drink orders, my specialty coffee came out about an inch below the top (very small cup, expensive coffee, so that inch matters), while the other two specialty coffees were literally overflowing. I asked if I could get the coffee topped off. I got tired of waiting, so I drank the coffee anyway. No sooner than I was finished, and about the 5th time she walked by, she poured black coffee in my little coffee cup. We placed our food order before the coffee came out, and I asked about my son's lemonade, which was ordered with the coffees. Two tables were sat about 15 mins after we placed our food order. Both tables had their food, long before we did. We waited about an hour for our food. Once it was brought out, it was barely Luke warm. Waters were empty, but not refilled. We were done eating, and I asked again about my son's lemonade. When it was brought out, in an adult dine in cup (he's 5, and we were very obviously finished), the check soon followed. Despite the horrible service, the entire time, I made sure to be courteous to the server, please, thank you, ma'am, ect...she didn't outright say "I don't like you"...but that's certainly how it felt. Food was good, so the cooks did their job well, but expensive....

Cute location and decor. I dined on a Monday around 10am. The restaurant only had a few tables dining and the noise level was moderate. I could imagine that when the restaurant is busy it is very noisy, nothing to absorb the sound. So if you're looking for a quiet dining experience, I would only dine on a slower day. The food was okay. We had the Rough Waters, which was honestly, disappointing. The crabcakes had way too much filling. I would have preferred a smaller more meaty crabcake over the larger bread filled one given. The old bay hollandaise was broken and just looked like a buttery mess poured over the bendict, which in turn made it greasy and oily. We also had the Southern Charm Biscuit, which was pretty tasty with the pimento cheese, canadian bacon and rosemary honey. I also ordered a side of korean fried chicken. This was my favorite item ordered. The portion size for a side at only 3$ was very substantial. I suggest asking for a side of honey and drizzling it on top and adding a bit of hot sauce. The flavor is perfect. My mouth is watering just thinking about how yummy it was. Service was fine, not bad, not good, not overly friendly, but then again it...
