This is an interesting museum, with a somewhat eclectic selection of items, grouped loosely together. The museum itself has quite a striking outside entrance area and although we visited when it was cold and raining, I could see it being an excellent place to hold social functions and gatherings. Inside you'll find what could be considered a transportation section with some classic cars, a small plane, a refurbished trolley car and a work train engine. Next is more of an agricultural/farming area with various implements and equipment, followed by printing, dental and other areas of industry that used to be dominant in the Lancaster/York area. Back upstairs there's a local industry section with many old lathes, drills and other assorted factory equipment, and across the way is the only disappointing part with the "giants of industry" which only has three things in it.
Overall worth a stroll around, you can easily spend a couple of hours poking around looking at the wide variety of items on display....

I especially liked the overview of the variety of industries that were active in York, the diversity is quite impressive. I also enjoyed interactive parts of the museum, where you could touch things, get inside cars, etc. Overall, I can absolutely recommend visiting the place, it is...

We did the ceremony in the lobby and the reception in the hall of giants, but the courtyard would be a great choice as well. Fair price. Staff was friendly and super helpful as well. Thanks for an...
