Khorzem Art Restaurant — Restaurant in Khiva

Khorezm Art restaurant has a wonderful terrace in the middle of an old Madrasa, especially beautiful at sunset.

The home made Shivit Oji, the traditional Khiva dill fresh pasta, were delicious, as well as the Mojito.

The restaurant is led by a warm-hearted Ouzbek-French woman, who gives the opportunity to young women of neighbouring villages to gain experience in the gastronomy and hence build-up an independant life.

Two young ladies showed us how to make the Shivit Oji dough and tomato sauce, as well as how to cook the Shivit Oji; which was a very enjoyable experience across the language and cultural differences.

Thanks to the family young son, we also got the chance to discover some hidden part of the beautiful medrasa.

A nice artistic restaurant inside Ichan Kala.

Nice big menu catering to both vegetarians and non vegetarians. Menu is printed in multiple languages including English.

Service is a little slow as only one guy was there to serve. We also came late so may be.

We ordered Vegetarian Plov. We believe it’s originally meant to be a non vegetarian dish. Converting it to vegetarian doesn’t do justice to it.

Most of the restaurants in Uzbekistan charge a 15 - 20% service charge. This restaurant charges 15%

One suggestion I have for them is that they must have an exhaust at the place. For vegetarians, the smell of non vegetarian is also bother at times. For me it was very difficult to sit...

I stopped here since in a very hot august day, this restaurant appears like a German-Uzbek cooperation on the advertisement on the door, and you cannot realize from outside what happens inside . But once inside, you will find a pleasant, climatized restaurants with around 20 seats and typical local cuisine. Food quality can be different and improved, having tested so many restaurants in Uzbekistan, but absolutely not bad. Manti arrived very quickly (3 minutes from order) to have been freshly cooked. Somsa good. Price in line with what you expect, slightly superior to other cities in UZ. Espresso sold at 25000 sums, like the main dish…. Strange but...
