I am very lucky that DIY coffee happened to be the closest coffee shop to my Airbnb. Hanh makes her drinks with love, attention and care, taking her time to make sure every drink is tasty and presented well, which she serves with complimentary Vietnamese tea.
From the Affogato, to Macchiato, to Turmeric Milk, to fresh orange juice, to Kombuchas, to her special coffee Mocktails, everything is exceptional and delicious. However, my favourite is her Cappuccino. They are strong, rich, smooth and perfect, with no bitter aftertaste. Hanh makes coffee her art but is very understated about it. She brings a relaxed and warm atmosphere to her coffee shop. It is a beautiful old building, with quirky decor. DIY Coffee is located on a lovely neighbourhood road. It is just so easy to watch the world go by, with a great drink and feel really at peace in this vibrant city.
Whether you make a special trip to it or just happen to walk by, I would recommend this...
Read moreI found diy coffee because it was (almost) right next to my Airbnb. I could not recommend more. Truly lovely people and coffee. Please make the time to stop and try their unique (and Vietnamese classics) coffee while you’re in Hanoi. The owner is lovely and super happy to talk with you and make recommendations about Vietnam. She also has a map handy with her local food suggestions which were great too - I stopped at several of them. I will go back every time I return to Hanoi in the future.
Hope you’re all dry and staying safe in the floods. Thank you so...
Read moreBy far my favourite coffee shop in Hanoi. I was warmly welcomed into this cosy, relaxing and friendly gem by Michele, who expertly explained the fascinating historical context and characteristics of each coffee. The owner Hanh is also very lovely and a paragon of warm, charming and helpful hosts.
Perfect for solo travellers or small groups it is an easy place to get talking with locals and travellers alike. They even have a fantastic sheet listing 18 of the most traditional dishes of Hanoi, with one or two nearby restaurants for each!
Peace solidarity...
