The best cooking class in Hanoi! Taking a cook class plus exploring the market with a guide was one of our favorite things we did while in Vietnam for 12 days! We had such a great time with Albert, our chef, in our group of 4 friends plus 2 others. It felt small, intimate and like we were actually learning how to prepare the local food and getting feedback on our knife work, chopping size, seasoning etc. to make it as authentic as possible. Albert shared a lot about the city and market we would not have known without him being there. In fact, we had gone to the market before the class and all agreed we felt overwhelmed and had a little difficulty maneuvering all the stalls, so it was great having Albert's help. We also got to try some fresh sesame balls (I forget what they were called but we didnt know when we arrived to not get them past the morning because they arent fresh) and some meal worm fried patty which was super tasty. We also got to take a cyclo ride to the market which was a little scary (haha) but part of the experience. We had such a great time and definitely had some of THE best food on our trip at Duong's including the banana flower leaf salad, bun cha (THE BEST!) and beef pho; in fact, we tried to return to eat at the restaurant when we came back to Hanoi later in the trip but ran out of time. We will definitely visit again when...
Read moreDuong Dining as one of ten popular chef in Vietnam. The restaurant is located in Old Quarter area with the concept of Vietnamese fine dining with great atmosphere presented and good food created by famous chef. The ambience of the restaurant is quite good and nice and it is good for family gathering, meeting, dating or any events. It is better for you to reserve the tables as the restaurant is quite full for dinner time. By the way, the restaurant is closed at 22.00 pm therefore please prepare your time. The restaurant is also served for alcohol drinks, juice, etc and as compliment they served juice watermelon mixed and also carrot juice mixed with lemon and rose. The waiter is quite helpful even though not all of them can speak English fluently but they want to help. The menu is in Vietnamese and also English (you can read the description of foods even though no picture at the menu). They have appetizer such as Vietnamese Salad, spring roll and main course such as Sea Bass Grill, Duck in 2 sauce, Banh Mi (BBQ pork with vemicelli), Tenderloin Steak. The price range is little bit expensive. It is around VND 190,000 until VND 650,000. And also it need to add for government tax for 10% and service charge for 5%. However, it is good experience...
Read moreCalled the chef we knew from our Hanoi cooking class and made a reservation the moment we reached Hanoi. It was 9pm at that time.
Told him we will be bringing luggage, dressed in slippers and shorts as we do not have the time to change and he was fine with it. Told him to send us a photo of his menu through the phone and he also did it. Told him we are stucked in a traffic jam and will arrive much later and he said no problem. Such positive attitude from a head chef.
When we arrived, we were greeted by the chef with a warm smile, abeit trying to hide his fatigue from his visibly tired eyes.
Each dish is delicate and beautifully prepared. Even the drink is breathtakingly designed. An A+ for just the effort alone. What is even more amazing is the taste of the food. Chef Jack never fails to satisfy our over-the-top fussy Singaporean tastebuds.
Food is reasonably priced despite the amount of effort and time spent. Certain dishes such as the Vietnam pancakes are demonstrated and the way to consume it is explained at the table.
Decorated food was a feast for our eyes, every dish is instagram worthy, delicious food, friendly staffs, comfortable attire (Remember we were wearing slippers...)This is the epitome of...
