How this hotel continues to have such amazing reviews continues to amaze me. OK, one explanation is the staff/management which are very nice and will do whatever they can to make your stay confortable.
But the price of the hotel and the rating it has on Google/Booking is unreal. When you ask a high value price you need to offer those services. In this case, they dont match.
First of all, the hotel is old and you can see that, would require a maintenance. We had a city view room (thus, the higher price one, not the standard room with no windows) and you can see the view in the pictures. The cleanliness was decent, but you can do better (there was hair in our room from the previous persons, it was a bit disgusting).
We asked for another room and the staff was nice enough to upgrade us to a Junior Suite - that was a decent room with enough light and you can open the windows, but for the price it has you can definitely find better. We had no hot water one night, again, but the staff found a solution and gave us an late check out.
The breakfast is average, very few options, and there is somesort of a kitchen right on the spot - the smell is incredible in the entire hotel in the morning. There is not even a hood to evacuate the smell.
They (the staff) are however very kind at the hotel and ask you to provide a 10/10 on Booking - they even offered us a free ride to the airport when we said this is not a 10/10 hotel. We respectfully declined their free ride.
Being honest, however, the hotel is just not worth it. The price is much too high for the quality of the...
Read moreHaving stayed in a lot of places in Hanoi, I’ve never really been impressed. Even the 5 stars are nothing amazingly special here (my opinion), but this place really is a gem. I stayed in the junior suite for 2 nights. On arrival staff were fast, polite and had impeccable English.
Checked me in quickly, gave me a fantastic welcome drink and cold towel, explained everything about the hotel and services they offer. My room was on the 7th floor (no noise - a rarity in Hanoi), clean, spacious, modern with many local touches inside. This hotel is big on eco friendly ness which is great to see at a hotel. You won’t find any plastic here, and it’s followed throughout the hotel as a central concept - which many more should do!
Breakfast was ok (content could be improved it was typical of what you get in VN which was surprising as I thought there maybe something special on offer for breakfast), but portions were good, staff amazing and the coffee strong. Cheese, baguettes, fresh eggs, and ok local bacon and sausages.
Overall, I loved the place and would definitely come back. This is a hotel chain that is really going somewhere, and as someone who works in the travel industry in Asia, this is must try when in Hanoi as it ticks all the boxes.
Forgot to say location - perfect close to everything within walking distance, hotel can organize well priced transfers and onward travel / day trips for you. Giant Cafe, the famous egg coffee shop is around the corner, and there is an abundance of local and international places to eat or grab a coffee, in...
Read moreOn a trip travelling for 5 weeks around SE Asia this was our first stop. 4 nights in The Lavender Central and it set the bar! From the moment we booked until the moment we left the service was exceptional. The staff here are super friendly and really can't do enough for you. When we arrived we were greeted with welcome tea and some information on reccommendations for places to eat and drink. We tried many of these, and were super impressed. We also had help with laundry, documents being printed, transfers and day trips. Nothing was too much. Big thank you in particular to Hana, Kai and Jerry for their super friendly and attentive service.||The bed was extremely comfortable and big which we welcomed after long days of exploring along side the waterfall shower which was always lovely and hot! We were also given clean towels everyday. We stayed in the Deluxe Double at the back of the hotel on floor 4 which was lovely and quiet. The room itself was also a great size.||Breakfast was perfect for us and included in the price with quick friendly service. There is a selection of tea coffee and juices along with fruits, cereal and breads. There is also a selection of breakfast options on the menu which were great. ||The location of the hotel was fantasic and in walking distance to all the major points of interest. ||There are so many hotels to choose from in Hanoi old town, we looked at many, however we were absolutely delighted with our choice and cannot reccommend it and it's staff enough. Thank you for...
