overall rating would be 3,5/5
Food - maybe i had a bit too high expectations taken into account they dry-age their own beef and have legit brick oven, however food itself just didnt satisfy my cravings beef steak was well prepared, however lacked proper seasoning pizza quattro formaggi had enough cheese, but the dough itself (which i think is the essential point of pizza) just wasnt to my liking and resembled and tasted more like NY style pizza slice (which would also be ok, but just wasnt what i was expecting with the whole italian vibes) special carbonara - they prepare it in parmigiano wheel which is nice wow effect, my nieces loved it, but pasta itself was not salty enough (though al-dente), overall nice dish but lacked proper seasoning again negroni sbagliato which i ordered was really good and set me up for high expectations for food which unfortunatelly didnt deliver for one thing, food was served a bit too quickly which caused us to finish eating within 30 minutes, i prefer my food to have a bit of timing so you get food warm and can enjoy slower flow of eating (just my preference, i am sure other people would give + for quick service, i just like slower flow when dining) service 5/5, they took really great care of us atmosphere is nice, they also have deli counter with really nice pieces of meats overall, if i was in europe, this would be ok even to regards to price of food, but here, for that price, i expected a...
Read moreWe had the best pizza at La Florentina during a recent city break in Hanoi, it was close to where we were staying and with three kids in tow with pizza demands, we were just happy to find one nearby. As someone who makes pizza at home and knows the dough, you can the it was freshly made and cooked simply to perfection. We had two Margaritas and two starters - parmigiana and arancini - which were all very delicious. Excellent selection of vino, and even it was ordered by the glass, our Chianti was very delicious - we had two each! Generous portions for ice-cream and even complimentary homemade limoncello - we would recommend this place to anyone visiting the city. Of course this wouldn't be possible without great service, very professional and friendly, also not overbearing at all. By far, most value for money for an Italian restaurant we had ever been to. Thank you team...
Read moreSo turns out the secret to a truly fabulous pasta is to put a Sri Lankan chef in an Italian restaurant in Vietnam. I made the mistake of ordering the ravioli tartuffo (finished off in a flambéed grana padano table side) and then sharing a taste with my dining partners, who proceeded to return to my plate for repeated forkfuls - hence my mistake. It was probably the best pasta I have ever eaten. The pizza too was superb and the steak - while on the thin side like most cuts in Vietnam - was done perfectly medium rare and well rested before it hit the table. The chef and owners treated us like royalty and it was such a pleasure chatting to them and hearing their stories. We even caught a lift closer to our hotel with the owners as we were the last people out the door! One of those nights that I will remember for many years to...
