On our first visit I gave the place a glowing 5 star review. Coming back we encountered a hostile and rude staff member taking a break. She took one of the kittens feeding off the mother cats breast, hit it twice and then sat next to us watching loud videos. We asked her to please stop as we came to enjoy the tranquility of tea ceremony, but she continued even after another staff member asked her not to. It was like she was being purposefully obnoxious: showing us the soles of her feet ( I read this gesture is very rude in Vietnam) and cracking her bare toes loudly. Completely ruined our experience. I wanted to come back every day next week, but now I don't want to come again. Just horribly rude and who hits a kitten?!
My original review: "Beautiful and tranquil haven. Exquisite selection of tea , elegant service and super cute family of cats. If you are in Hanoi you cannot miss this treasure! It should have a Michelin star. I'm only here for two weeks but I think I need to come back many times to try more tea. Today we tried Full Moon white tea and Puer vintage 1994. Both were lovely, different and could be refilled 8-10 times (they will give you a thermos and fill it regularly). Perfect place for journaling, working on a laptop or just enjoying the tranquil atmosphere and music....
Read moreWe just attended a tea ceremony with my boyfriend, which cost 1,300,000 VND (around 90 AUD). Previously, I went to a tea ceremony at a tea house in Sydney, where they charged 60 AUD for two people, and Sydney’s prices are generally much higher than Hanoi’s.
We thought the ceremony would be held in a private room or at least a quiet place, but it was in an open space surrounded by lots of people, making it super crowded. The worst part was during the meditation before the ceremony. There was loud banging from mallets hitting a railing outside the room, making it really hard to concentrate.
We loved how the host introduced us to tea and Vietnamese tea culture, but at times, we could barely hear her voice over the chatter of other customers. There was almost no space between me and the person next to me—his bag was even touching my body.
Overall, the lotus green tea was delicious, the process was fascinating, and the host was excellent. However, if you can’t fully immerse yourself in the experience due to the environment, there’s really no point in joining the ceremony. If you love tea, I’d recommend just ordering tea 🍵🍵🍵 from them instead of attending the...
Read moreI feel so lucky to find such a heavenly place and have the opportunity to taste their special tea selection. We visited this tea house in the morning after visiting the temple of literature in an extremely hot weather. We came from sa pa with night train in that morning with our backpacks and needed a relaxation moment so badly. Indoor area was so cosy with floor cushion seats and low tables, it was cool with fans. We had special lotus green tea, it has a dreamy delicate taste. And black aged tea has a earthy full bodied taste. She prepared tea with care and explained so well, she was so kind. Garden is so peaceful with all plants, decorations, pond with acuarium fishes and a lovely cat. There was no one except us and we had the opportunity to chill on our own enjoy the teas with more pour over for a long time. We bought some lotus tea while we leave and I can’t wait to prepare tea ceremonies at home too. It was such an exquisite experience, I recommend for the ones looking for a runaway from chaotic...
