Bún Thang Bà Tổng — Restaurant in Hà Nội

Visited this small hidden gem today, and tried the Pho Tron Lung (Back Pho). It was delicious. We will totally recommend it to our friends visiting Vietnam.

The women at the counter didn’t speak very good English, but it is well visited by locals, and we had a Vietnamese-English gentleman who helped place an order as we have some dietary restrictions. Even after he left,she took time through Google translate to understand what we liked, or if she could help us in anyway. She was through and through very polite and patient with us, which goes a long way when you are in a Non-English speaking country.

Towards the end the staff even took pictures with us. The vibe was really friendly...

Ordered Bun Thang. Super delicious! The broth is uniquely nice with a special fragrance. It has this crunchy vegetable, which I’ve no idea what’s that, that gives a slight sour taste and I love it. Mixed it with cut garlic and chilli and lime (as usual). I added some red chilli sauce as well that we’ll complement the chicken meat that some were too tough for my liking.

It’s June and super hot! Otherwise, it’ll be so much more enjoyable with the hot broth.

I’ll definitely miss this delicacy and will visit again when I’m back at Hanoi!

Just as all the other reviews state: it’s awesome! A really fun grab ride to a truly local area. As I was getting off the bike to hand back my helmet the host had already locked eyes with me giving me a huge smile! This welcome means a lot when you are solo travelling 😃. I got the Bun Thang with breast meat. Beautiful flavoursome broth with mushrooms and rice noodles. I added heaps of chilli and pickled garlic. So good! And only 50k. Would definitely go again and maybe try thigh meat...
