I had a really poor experience here. I'm normally quite easily pleased - I think this is my first negative review, and I am really surprised by the high review this spa has gotten.
Me and my partner came here on the 20th Aug for the couples package. We had been into the spa, in person, the day before to book. All the details were confirmed in writing.
When we arrived on the 20th Aug there was a lot of confusion, even though the staff had written down our package & time. They kept asking what package we were having.
We were asked for payment before the treatment - this is unusual; we have been to many spas. The receptionist tried to charge EACH of us the package amount, when this is the total cost for both persons.
When I was asking questions about the treatment, the staff was laughing at me and not responding - I don't think they understood English. The level of English across the staff generally is poor, there is no knowledge of basic words and phrases, I would therefore not recommend if you cannot speak Vietnamese. I understand English is not the local language, but in businesses dealing with lots of tourists, you generally expect staff to speak enough English to get by.
We were waiting in reception for 20 minutes after the treatment time with no explanation. Our package time was 18:30, we went into the treatment room 18:50.
I was given slippers to wear that were obviously a massive size and I couldn't walk in them.
We were led to the treatment room and told 'get changed' with no explanation, I had to go and get the staff back as there were no towels or robes.
The light in the treatment room was really bright. The therapists were talking to each other during the treatment.
They started running the bath after we got in the steam room, so we were waiting for the bath to fill for 20 minutes, then the staff turned the bath off with too little water. The bath is only big enough for one person, so I went in the bath and my partner sat in the shower for 15 minutes, on top of the 20 minutes we had waited in the steam room/shower. No drink/water was offered even though we were very hot from 20 minutes in the steam room. We wanted to come out of the steam room but the staff told us to go back in as they were cleaning the room. Normally the staff prepare the bath towards the end of the treatment, so it is ready for you.
Staff started the scrub treatment with the door open, and I was laying in front of the door. I had to ask for the door to be closed, and the staff did not understand. This is not respecting privacy. The door literally opens onto the reception area, so I was laying in the bed wearing only disposable briefs and anyone in the reception area could see me?
The facial products did not feel nice and was a very strong fragrance. I have a rash on my face from the facial - red bumps along my cheeks and jaw line. After the facial I saw the bottles they used - SK-II and Clé de Peau, after my experience with them, I do not think they are genuine products, and I see there is another review alleging the same. I don't have sensitive skin, I regularly use strong exfoilants with no issue. I am therefore not prone to skin irritation, which makes me concerned about the authencity of the products/cleanliness of the process. The facial is basically a quick cleanse, leaving you alone in the room with a sheet mask for 20 minutes, then rubbing a cream on. The massage technique was very much dragging the skin down, and not in a drainage way.
The facial and massage technique did not feel good, just rubbing up and down.
We asked for the smoothies in takeaway cups so we could leave, they were brought down in glasses. The wellness snack was a biscuit.
There is also a stand in front of the stairs to the spa, so it was difficult to get to the spa.
It is awkward when the staff ask you to complete the feedback and stand there watching you.
I have been to many spa's across the world and this was my worst experience. It was not good service for the money, when there was confusion at our arrival, I wish we would...
Read moreI walked into Soleil Spa Hanoi expecting a luxury experience, especially given the elevated price point but let’s just say, the math wasn’t mathing.
First off, I was shocked that payment was required before the service. I’m not new to upscale spas, and while I understand higher prices, the pay-first approach caught me off guard.
Then came the welcome. I had to ask if we were changing into spa shoes which should’ve been automatic at a spa of this caliber. They did offer the standard ginger tea (served cold, as expected), but from there, the experience started to unravel.
Instead of being guided through a proper foot soak ritual, I was told to change clothes and just… dunk my feet in. The therapist briefly cleaned my feet, then vanished for five minutes. I laid there confused, wondering if she forgot about me.
The massage room? Bright. Too bright for a relaxing ambiance. And the massage table’s face hole was tiny definitely not designed with foreigners in mind. Even the receptionist admitted they’ve had multiple complaints about it.
Now, I requested strong pressure specifically said I wanted Thai deep tissue and was warned it would be intense by the receptionist. I even made a comment about how rare it is to find women who can really apply deep pressure. Sadly… it was all bark, no bite. The massage was fine, but nowhere near great. And it certainly wasn’t worth the 890,000 VND price tag.
To top it all off, after the massage, I was served warm water no lemon, no ginger, no fruit plate, just plain, sad warm water. And the therapist lingered awkwardly, clearly hoping for a tip. I’m sorry, but that service wasn’t tip-worthy. I already overpaid.
Would I return? No. For that price, I expected excellence,...
Read moreMy family and I visited Soleil Spa as hotel guests, and overall, it was a mostly positive experience. My mom had a foot massage, and my husband got the Oriental massage—both enjoyed their treatments so much they went back the next day.
I had a facial, and while Henny was sweet and careful (especially around my eyelash extensions), the treatment itself wasn’t very memorable. The products used didn’t feel like the SK-II and Clé de Peau that were shown beforehand—I own both, so I’m familiar with their texture and scent. I didn’t think to ask about it beforehand, but afterward my face felt sticky, and I ended up washing it off.
Henny did give a wonderful shoulder, arm, hand, and scalp massage while the mask was on, which I really appreciated.
One thing I didn’t love was being asked to write a review immediately after the treatment. I understand the importance of feedback, but being handed a QR code and asked on the spot took away from the relaxing vibe. A gentle reminder at the end would’ve been much better—it’s a spa, after all, and I would’ve rather been sipping tea than typing a review mid-unwind.
Everyone, including the front desk staff, was incredibly kind and welcoming. I’d definitely recommend the body massages, but I’d skip the facial unless they improve the...
