Well, food is not bad but we had a bad experience there. When sitting I took a menu from a nearby table. It was in Vietnamese but with Google Translation there are no issues. When I ordered the owner looked upset when he saw the menu. He took it from me and gave me another one in English only. I though he was trying to help. But then I looked at the dish I wanted from the Viet menu. Price was 35K in the Viet menu but 50K in the English one... I thought the dish was perhaps different so we ordered. Well it was exactly the SAME pdish I was expecting. I asked the owner about it. He pretended not speaking any English so communication was hard. When I ask to check back the Menu in Vietnamese he strongly refused saying it wasn’t for me... I guess he was trying to tell me I’m supposed to pay more as a Tourist. There are other nearby restaurants in the same street that won’t cheat on...

Great little family-run restaurant. We got the bun dau mam tom for 2 people (100k vnd). It comes with vegetables, herbs, cucumbers, fried tofu, fried mushrooms, sausage, cured meat, boiled pork, and rice noodles. The shrimp paste dip is a bit of an acquired taste but definitely adds a lot of flavor, so dip lightly if you're not into fermented foods. Have been craving for Hanoi food for a while, and happened to chance upon this in Hoi An. Homely feel to the food, which is rather authentic. It wasn't the best I had but it's within a comfortable price range. I did notice there is a local menu and tourist menu, so caveat emptor.
