Came here just after 6 on a Sunday, asked for a table of 2. There was no space on the ground floor but was told we could sit inside upstairs. Went upstairs and was told no available tables despite there being one free inside. Went back downstairs and asked the guy if it was likely we’d get a table soon if we waited (we didn’t mind waiting and understood it was busy as it was a Sunday). He said he could get us one within the next few minutes so we waited. He did get us a table, we sat down having been given the food and drinks menu. After deciding what we wanted we waited for the waiter to come over to take our order, the guy who originally told us there were no tables available upstairs (despite there being one) came over and said there was no food tonight, only drinks. Other people around us had food so it didn’t make any sense, and we would understand if a few items were not available but the fact that there was no food at all, despite being given the food menu was very strange. Lily's Pancake Restaurant doesn't just serve some of the best dishes I have tasted in Hoi An but also in the whole of Vietnam. I recommend going for her pancakes, her homemade gelato, and practically everything else in her food menu especially the local specialties Cao Lau and My Quang. My personal pick for gelato would be Coconut! This is coming from someone who ate at her spot every single day I spent in beautiful Hoi An and never once had less than an great experience. Aside from the food, I admire and was lucky to have experienced Lily and her family's hospitality and charm. At this restaurant, you're considered family and they serve you as if you were their own. I know because they gave me the honor of having dinner with the whole family one night and there really was no difference to when I was a complete stranger. My partner and I have come here twice during our stay in Hoi An and will be back plenty more. The owner Lily is so lovely and knowledgeable about gluten free! She said I could have anything on the menu be made gluten free. The second I showed her my gf translation card she ran out the back to grab a sign stating they know about gluten free which is very reassuring. I’m ceoliac and it’s so great to have such a big variety of food to choose from.
