As a local, I was curious to try Bún Bò Đông Ba since it’s been getting quite a bit of attention. The space is clean, modern, and clearly caters to tourists - which isn’t a bad thing.
That said, the price is definitely on the higher side for a bowl of bún bò. While the ingredients are fresh and the portion is decent, the flavor didn’t quite hit the mark for me. It lacked the depth and boldness you’d expect from a proper Huế-style bowl.
Still, if you’re visiting Saigon and want a safer, cleaner intro to bún bò in a more comfortable setting, this could be a good place to start. But for locals who grew up with rich, spicy, aromatic bún bò, it might feel a little...
Read moreI would not recommend this place for anyone else even for the foreigners who's dare to try Vietnamese cuisine for their experience. Be aware of someone sitting down in the restaurant and listens "Horrifying" music and encourage customer's appetite even before receiving the noodle. That's the supposedly an owner of this restaurant. If you ask her turn it down nicely, you will receive the most uneducated.. very center oriented response saying "I'm the owner of the restaurant and you should shut your mouth just because you're in my son's age" and you will finally get slapped in your face if you want to challenge with her.

Read moreThis was my first meal ever in Vietnam and it certainly did not disappoint!! I was starving and I got the small bun bo hue and it was plenty to fill my belly :)
The flavor of the broth was on point and there was a generous serving of meat included. There was a good mix of tourists and locals in the restaurant, and there were also a bunch of delivery drivers picking up orders which can attest to the quality of the food they serve here!
