We had the pleasure of dining at Be An Vegetarian in Ho Chi Minh City, and it was truly one of the most memorable meals of our trip. We've tried many hot pots over the years in different countries, but nothing comes close to the creamy hot pot soup we had here. It was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced – a beautiful blend of savory, slightly sweet, and aromatic elements that made every bite feel like a warm hug. Even after trying countless hot pots, this one easily stands out as the best we’ve ever had. The vegetables, tofu, and mushrooms were fresh and cooked to perfection, soaking up the creamy broth wonderfully. The ambiance of the restaurant is also worth noting – it's calm, peaceful, and beautifully decorated with a modern yet cozy touch. It's a perfect little escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. What made our experience even more special was the staff. Every single person we interacted with was incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely caring. They made us feel very welcome and well looked after throughout our meal. The only small inconvenience was the restroom situation – to use the bathroom, you need to ask the staff for a key or a paper slip, which can be a bit awkward if you’re in a hurry. Still, the staff handles it with kindness and efficiency, and it doesn’t take away from the overall wonderful experience. If you're in Ho Chi Minh City and love plant-based food, or just want to try something truly delicious, Be An Vegetarian is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be...
Read moreI came here alone for early dinner, drawn by the vegetarian concept and almost perfect rating, but unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing.
I clearly asked for a non-spicy dish, even showed a photo and emphasized that I couldn’t eat any chili. Despite this, the dish arrived spicy with chili on top, which made it impossible to eat. When I pointed this out, the waitress first said it wasn’t spicy — then admitted it was. I had to use a translator to ask if they could prepare a non-spicy version. After a few back-and-forths, a second dish was brought, this time without chili — I appreciated that.
However, the overall attitude from the staff was uncomfortable. The waitress and her colleagues were laughing, the bartender stared at me, and I honestly felt unwelcome. One of the servers even seemed confused about where to seat me, as if dining solo was a problem.
The prices are high compared to most restaurants in Vietnam, and the atmosphere definitely doesn’t justify it. I understand that “not spicy” can mean different things across cultures, but a little kindness and attentiveness would have gone a long way.
I won’t be returning, and wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re looking for a warm, respectful...
Read moreWe are visiting Ho Chi Minh for a week, came here 3 times.
1st time we came for lunch, got seated immediately, food and service was excellent.
2nd time we came at night around 8, restaurant looked full, but no one waiting outside. Hostess told us they could not accommodate us at the time, we asked if we can wait, she said no. We were perplexed, but left thinking we come back next day.
We did go back next day at 11:30 am, hostess asked if we had a reservation, we didn’t. She said restaurant was completely booked. The restaurant looked completely empty inside at that moment.
This was the 1st and only restaurant in entire Vietnam we visited that turn us away and asked for a reservation. We traveled from North to South and ate at many restaurants big and small. Although the food and service was excellent once you get it, they seem a bit snobbish and adopted the western reservation non-sense. I would not recommend or go back to this...
