This is MUST try restaurant if you want real authentic Vietnamese food, i’ve tried many vietnamese restaurants here but this one is definitely on top of my list.
We were looking for food around Bui Vien and Ben Thanh market and found this lovely restaurant. I’ve been coming back here a couple of times since then. Everything we ordered were so tasty, fresh, “hanoi style grilled pork with vermicelli, “grilled pork spring roll”, “fried fish with fish sauce and garlic”, “minced pork crab soup” are my favourite. Lots of fresh herbs too, that’s what i love about it. The desert is the best, “cold pandan tofu puffing” is so smooth and nice, “flan with ice cream” and “blue berry yogurt” are so good, i eat them all the time. Service is attentive and fast, staff are so polite, i like!!!
And the price is so reasonable, average 5$ a dish, at most 10$+, dessert is less than 2$ omg. Unbelievable for the quality with that price point and the location. Keep it up! Highly...
Read moreDo not let the 4.9 on Google Reviews deceive you as it deceived us. As the restaurant admits, they give a free dessert with every Google review, which explains the high 4.9 rating on Google despite the very mediocre Vietnamese food. Such practices are deceptive to visitors who want real/authentic reviews. To be certain, Google states explicitly that: "Business owners shouldn't offer incentives to customers to leave reviews." I came here because of the Google reviews, but would not have come if I knew those reviews were incentivized. I was hoping to get an excellent com tam, but what we got was just okay. Banh xeo was not bad but also not great, and egg rolls and bun were pretty good but not great. I would say this restaurant should ultimately be about a 3-3.5, so I'm rating it a 2 to even out the 5 star reviews that are improperly incentivized with a free dessert. Not worth going to if you...
Read moreI've eaten street food, I've eaten in top end restaurants and I've eaten everywhere in between in Ho Chi Minh and Cơm 1990 is easily the most enjoyable food experience I've had. The staff are friendly and the service is passable by international standards. Recommendations are on point and the food is exactly what you'd hope. Unpretentious and yet exceptional. Packed with flavor and covering the entire, broad spectrum of Vietnamese cuisine. The decor is rustic cool, shabby but stylish and the atmosphere matches perfectly, easy going and un rushed. It would be easy to pay double the price for something in a classier or more sophisticated joint... that wouldn't match the quality of food here by a long way....
