An Absolute Gem in Saigon - A Must-Visit Café!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I recently revisited The Melbourne Café at its stunning new location in Saigon, and I’m absolutely in awe. This café not only maintains its reputation for excellence but has elevated the experience with its gorgeous, modern setting. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a sleek yet welcoming atmosphere that sets the stage for an exceptional experience.

Ambience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The new location boasts a sophisticated, contemporary design that blends comfort with elegance. The clean lines, modern décor, and ample natural light create a vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere. Whether you're catching up with friends, working on your laptop, or enjoying some time alone, the café’s thoughtful design ensures a perfect environment for any occasion.

Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ As always, the service is impeccable. The staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about providing a great experience. From helpful menu recommendations to prompt service, they excel at making every customer feel valued. Their attention to detail and knowledge of the menu further enhance the overall experience.

Coffee: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ For coffee lovers, this café continues to be a dream. The baristas are masters of their craft, using high-quality beans to deliver flavorful, aromatic coffee in every cup. Whether you’re after a smooth espresso, a frothy latte, or a refreshing iced brew, their offerings cater to a wide range of tastes and preferences.

Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The menu is as delightful as ever, offering a variety of delicious dishes made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. From indulgent breakfasts to hearty lunches and dinners, every bite is flavorful and beautifully presented. The updated menu also includes some fantastic new additions, further elevating the dining experience.

Atmosphere: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The new space is buzzing with energy yet remains cozy, striking a perfect balance between trendy and comfortable. Whether you're there for a quick coffee or a leisurely meal, the atmosphere makes it an inviting spot for any time of day.

Prices: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Despite the upgraded location and refined ambiance, the prices remain very reasonable, offering excellent value for the quality of food, coffee, and service. It’s an ideal place for both locals and visitors seeking a premium yet affordable experience in the heart of Saigon.

In summary, The Melbourne Café has only improved with its beautiful new location. The modern setting, coupled with the same great coffee, food, and service, makes it a standout in Saigon's café scene. Whether you're a seasoned coffee aficionado or just looking for a new favorite hangout, The Melbourne Café is an absolute must-visit. I can’t...

Everything at this restaurant is perfect. The staff members are fantastic, their attitude is great, they look after the customers and advise them on the menu, and always welcome everyone with a big smile. After the first time my husband and I came here, we decided this cafe would be our local for brunch (and also dinner the last few nights in Ho Chi Minh). I would love to thank all the members of the team for their professional approach and great service 10/10 ⭐️ And a special mention to Manh, who was our waitress mainly every day and he went beyond and above to make our time there truly enjoyable. His attention to detail and care for us was top-notch 🙏🏻 Now down to the food: their brunch menu has all the options you could imagine from English breakfast, to different kind of pancakes, avocado toast, eggs in any style (poached, fried, omelette) to sandwiches, bagels, Buddha bowls and salads. Of course, they also offer sweet treats, coffees, smoothies, and teas. The menu is perfect for breakfast/brunch, lunch, and also dinner, as they offer dishes such as noodles with beef, pork, chicken, and rice bowls. I tried the vegetables omelette and it was devine! It was packed with loads of vegetables and came with toast and butter. Their granola was also lovely, although a bit sweet for me. For dinner, I tried their chicken salad and their veggie bagel with hummus, and they were lovely, too. Their coffee is beautiful, and I was very happy they had almond milk. Definitely try their fresh juices too, full of all the good veggies and fruits. My husband also tried the pancakes and LTB sandwich, and he loved them. Last but not least, the cafe has a great atmosphere, with two zones (inside and a terrace) and you can come here to work on your laptop too as it is pretty quiet. Good WiFi, free water to deal with the heat of the city, A/C, and good toilets too. Honestly, it's a...

Location: Front and center of Nguyen Dinh Chieu, district 3.

Vibe: 30/70 mix of locals and foreigners respectively. Small, cute cafe with simple decorations and setup.

Customer service: This must be the winning strategy for this restaurant as the food isn’t great at all — (I will get to that in a minute). The young waiters and waitresses are fluent in English, helpful, and respectful.

Food: It’s unfortunate I did not capture the pancakes and English Breakfast that I got, but feel free to browse pictures from other diners as it’s the same point. — The English Breakfast is not a full-out version, which only comes with bacon, egg, bread, butter, and grilled tomatoes — the rest had to be ordered separately if one wanted avocado/hashbrown, etc. For the price of 160k, what was served is not even up to par of “bánh mì chảo” in Vietnam for 1/3 the price. Also, the taste of what’s on the plate itself lacks character, and just plain sad — bread is hard, egg is mediocre, bacon is overcooked, tomatoes needed seasoning… — Pancakes is another level of sad. The essence of pancake is the fluffiness and perfectly sweet comfort food that it brings. Mine was just dry, is all that I can remember. I drenched mine in the chocolate syrup I ordered but that still did not help.

Overall: Melbourne Cafe stands out due to its amazing location, friendly vibe, and focus on customer service. However, the food it serves lack character, as though it comes from someone who does not understand the essence of Western food. The price Melbourne Cafe charges for the quality of food it serves does...

Extremely slow service (>1h to get food) and extremely small portions for the price. Who would this be for? If you're a foreigner who's travelled for the past two weeks and craves western-like dishes and has unlimited time that day then go here. Here's how it went: Two of us arrived at about 10:50AM, when they told us to have a seat as they do table service. At 11.00 (10 mins later) I went to the counter to grab a menu as no one came to the table. At 11.15 we went to the counter to order, where they told us again to sit down as they do table service. Someone came to take our order straightaway. We ordered 2 coffees, 2 juices, one bagel, and one granola. 11.22 (7 min since ordering) they bring cutlery and a glass of water 11.36 (21min since ordering) Coffee served after proactively asking when we can expect them 11.45 (30min since ordering) Both juices delivered 11.56 (41min since ordering) Food delivered Note that we had to go ask to order, ask for our coffees and that the food we ordered didn't need cooking (cold granola, assembled bagel). Total price for 2x coffee, 2x juice, one bagel and one tiny (see picture) granola was 500k VND /20 USD (that's a lot - for reference, one Banh Mi is usually 40k VND). Our table wasn't an isolated example, everyone around us waited for a long time too. I wish I had read other reviews on here before we went.

lets start off with the bad stuff first hey? when i was seated they advised it would be a 30min wait. sure. why not. sat down, ordered food, ordered coffee coffee came in about 10mins, sure no issues. at 30-40minute mark a couple sat at the table next to me. they ordered. i checked with the waiter to make sure my food was on its way, of course they said theyll check. about the 50-60min mark the couple starts receiving their food. i make a complaint and say ill just pay for my coffee and leave staff insists the food is coming and to just wait a moment. it was about another 10-15mins wait before my food arrived! i understand they were busy, but how was another guest receiving their food first when they sat well after me?! im a Melbournian, and the food overall didnt meet Melbourne's cafe culture - maybe im just being harsh, but if you labelled this as Aussie Cafe then sure id agree with the quality of food n coffee.. but Melbourne standards this doesn't come close! Melbournians are brunch and coffee snobs.. we know how to do brunch and coffee... and this was not it. let alone the slow service! the meat pie also wasnt great - but in their defence, so far i have not found a single decent meat pie in Saigon (and i have had a few!) purely a review from a Melbournian that wanted a piece of home here in VN.
