Sunlight Restaurant & Coffee — Restaurant in Phú Quốc

TLDR: don't order the market specials, and tell the server to keep her hands off your food. Other than that, quite enjoyable.

This restaurant was promising but let itself down severely towards the end.

The location is good, it's a nice outdoor space with ample fans, and ice cold beers.

It took about 25 minutes to serve the first dishes (grilled squid and pepper fish) which were very good so at that point we were happy to wait patiently for the grilled market fish. We were told it was cooking and would just be a few minutes, however it wasn't served until 30 minutes later. Not only that but the fish was mushy and flavourless, and the menu advised it was served with rice paper to make rolls which wasn't offered until we asked about it.

The server also insisted on taking the fish off the bone even though we said several times that we would rather do it. In the end, I had to slide the plate away.

The price of the market fish was 200k which was reasonable but I suggest you ask the price if you...

While walking towards the beach I thought why is this place busy while other establishments appear empty. We went in for some lunch and the reasons quickly became apparent. The food was faultless (perfect), the service was more than helpful, efficient and with a friendly smile. We were on the island for 7 days and ate here every afternoon and evening. We tried most of the menu and all was delicious particularly the prawns from the BBQ. Highly recommend the Sunlight Restaurant for the food (all of it) and the hospitality afforded by the family who take great pride in the food they prepare and provide and equally the manner in which they make everyone feel welcome. During our stay, the tempting BBQ aroma lured us to dine at this place not once, but twice.

The staff is incredibly friendly, and every time we passed by, the place was alway full. We indulged in a variety of dishes – gamba's, squid, red snapper, chicken curry, crispy tofu – and washed it down with some refreshing smoothies.

What's impressive is not just the taste but also the reasonable pricing. The value for money here is exceptional.
