DO NOT GO HERE! They scam foreigners and the food isn't even good, but it's very expensive.
I am starting to realize that all of the Google reviews for these restaurants are fake. How do I know? I took two bites of the baked cheesy salmon and it was pretty nasty which was a bummer because so many reviews raved about it. When I asked for the rest for take away, the server literally took my phone and was saying I should do a Google review RIGHT NOW and that he will show me. I was taken back and quite uncomfortable, and I was like no. Please not now and please give me back my phone. He then rudely left and ignored me.
When I went downstairs to pay, they LIED and said they didn't accept credit card? I was upset because I was saving my Vietnamese cash as the atms here are a bit hard to get to. I asked how come no one told me before I sat down. I wouldn't have eaten here if I knew they didn't accept credit card. They then pretended they couldn't speak English and started ignoring me. I didn't even think I had enough cash on me and so they were going to escort me to the ATM until I managed to find the cash I needed. Unfortunately that was all my Vietnamese cash and so now I need to figure out how to go to ATM tomorrow and get cash.
Anyway, DO NOT GO HERE. They LIE to foreigners, aggressively try to force you to review the restaurant, rudely start ignoring you during service, the food was nasty, and I feel scammed. Again, do not trust any of these reviews. I'm warning beforehand in case you were naive like I was. The only reason I chose this restaurant was due to the reviews too. But upon further investigation, the majority of the reviews appear to be accounts in which this restaurant is their first review (in other words, fake). Just take a look at the most recent reviews and their accounts and see for yourself. And isn't it a coincidence they all just happen to have "photos".
Also, to give you a better idea of my background and credibility. I live in New York City in the USA which is notoriously known for being expensive. I eat there regularly so I don't mind spending money if it's worth the price. However, if I am spending NYC prices ($25 DOLLARS+) for a subpar meal that is low quality, non existent service, and to be scammed. It's not something I would recommend to any tourist or Vietnamese local. Please heed my advice and just choose...
Read moreI booked a table at this restaurant twice and received persistent advice from a male staff with exceptionally good foreign language skills (PAO) We went with many people with different tastes but we were very enthusiastically advised by the team here (however, pay attention to the end of the menu, it does not include 8% tax for each bill, must take care of all restaurants in Sapa?) About the food, it is quite full and large if only for 1 person. And the black chicken dish cooked with squash is very strange. There are some small ones I have never seen before. Overall, it is okay and try the sturgeon here, a boneless fish (quite interesting)
About the landscape. This restaurant is large and very beautifully decorated with the highlight being the splendid lanterns. It has a direct view of the city center circle (however, the floor we sat on did not have an effective view). It can be said that some floors below may have a very good view. In short: May Quan is a good place for you to have dinner with your family and enjoy the city view. We recommend it if you are financially stable and want to explore one of the best restaurants in Sapa (in my...
Read moreWe visited this place with high expectations for good service and food. However, upon arrival, we noticed that the ground floor was disorganized and the floor was wet and dirty, and then upstairs where we seated, along the path ways, plates and utensils were left in a basin on the floor. The food was also overpriced; we paid 399,000 VND for grilled salmon with rice noodles and vegetables on the side, 260,000 VND for grilled chicken, and 50,000 VND for each juice. Food servings were enough for 3-4 people. Our dining experience was ruined when a rat appeared from the balcony and was trying to approach our table. This was incredibly disappointing, and I lost my appetite. One of the staff attempted to chase the rat away, but it kept returning, so we hurriedly finished our meal and asked for the bill, deciding to take away our leftovers. It was a terrible experience. On another note, the staff struggled with basic English instructions. They need to improve their communication skills to provide better service especially for...
