Atmosphere was amazing. An upscale experience that felt very country-club. A gate keeper greeted us and gave directions to Brooks'. After driving 60-70mph down highway 50 it was a welcome 15mph drive to the restaurant where our car was valet parked and we were directed toward the restaurant up a wheelchair accessible ramp. Inside, the plush carpets ran toward two dining rooms and also down some stairs to clean bathrooms with logo-printed napkins representing Edgewood, the resort that brings the two restaurants and golf course together.
Well, we headed toward the dining area that had an a-framed vaulted ceiling and were greeted by Igor who confirmed our reservation and seated us outside, which is where we wanted. The outdoor seating is a massive patio with good shade and plenty of seating on a nice paved area with a view of lake Tahoe and the green of the golf course. The chairs were wide and the tables large. It was very accommodating. I will say the chairs were a little hard and not necessarily ergonomic so if you have a small butt, prepare your tailbone. But I think most people will not notice.
Our server was attentive, and perfectly splendid. We were brought iced-water immediately and placed our order without any issues. There were little birds walking around and some bees buzzing the table, but no one got stung and there were no flies or unpleasant things.
The price of most appetizers is around $15-20. The price of most lunch/dinner items is around $25-40 and the steak was $62.
We ordered the taco trio 🌮, the Brooks' burger 🍔, and the rigatoni Bolognese 🍝.
Taco Trio 🌮 - $25 - 4 ⭐ - 3 tacos each on 2 untoasted corn tortillas. One pork 🐖, one fish 🐟, one beef 🍖. The fish taco was the best. It had good sauce/salsa, flavor and portion. The pork and beef were a little dry and felt under seasoned, but the clientele might prefer a less "spicy" 🥵 palate (they were not even 1% spicy), as such it didn't quite pop as much as I'd prefer. Also the corn tortillas were bland and dry. They would have been better lightly fried or having some more juice from the meats soaked into them. The biggest complaint here was the lack of flavor. This dish felt very close to being delicious. But again, some might prefer a more plain taco experience. They did include a little side of guac and salsa, and two lime wedges, but I shouldn't have to pour salsa on every taco to moisten it enough; each taco should stand alone as it's own proud claim to cooking.
Brooks' Burger 🍔 - $25 - 5 ⭐ - I love ordering a burger at a restaurant because I always wonder if they can mess it up. Well, they did not. It was great. Juicy, big burger with bacon, excellent sauce, crispy lettuce, on a fresh brioche bun. I would order this again. It was so good. And I was impressed with the fries. They were long cut similar to a potato wedge but thinner and crispy and perfectly seasoned. This dish couldn't have been better. Bravo! 👏🏼
Rigatoni Bolognese 🍝 - $38 - 2 ⭐ - This was the most expensive dish, but also the only one we regretted. The other dishes were fine and excellent, but this one either needed a huge price drop or to step up its game. The pasta looked like something I would get from a box for $2 and didn't taste special. The Bolognese sauce which was the selling point came across as a yummy, but simple meat sauce that was mostly underneath the noodles, not coating or on top of them. Instead the noodles are decorated with some parmesan and two chunks of bread. It felt like something from Chili's or Applebee's. I really wish there was more sauce covering the noodles and maybe a little more cheese. It just wasn't a $38 dish compared to the burger 🍔 which was amazing and totally worth $25 at this kind of upscale dining experience.
I'd still recommend this place. I want to try their Cubano sandwich 🥪 next time I go. And I think I will be back. It's a much better experience than eating in a casino. I would bring friends and family here if I wanted to show them a nice meal in Tahoe. But I would never recommend the rigatoni unless...

Read moreWe were here all week for vacation and a few locals that are friends recommended this place. We went last night and Denver the bartender was so great we decided to take our kids tonight for our last meal before heading home. First they were very busy.. line through the gift shop. We just wanted to get our name on the list but we stood there for 20 minutes and were totally ignored . We decided to seat ourselves at the long bar table that separated the bar and dinning room. Denver came over right away and was as friendly as he was the night before. He brought our drinks right away. He got busy and we waited patiently and saw a couple that had been sitting for 30 minutes at a table with no service get up and walk out. Brianna who I assumed was the floor manager came over to take our order.. not friendly and seemed put out. 20 minutes later our food came out we waited for an extra plate, sour cream that went with our meal. 10 minutes went by and my daughters filet hadn’t come out I stopped Brianna and she said she would check. She came back 10 MORE minutes later saying it would be 10 MORE minutes,, and walked off . She was SO RUDE. The three of us finished our dinner .. she never came back walked right passed us .. 20 minutes later I asked for the check and asked Denver to please take the steak off the bill.. he felt awful ( he had no idea_) it is our last night and no one in management came to apologize .. offer to send it to go.. get her something else .. considering how much we paid for our meal that is the very least you could do.I own my own business and would be mortified if someone like Brianna treated my...
