I recently stayed at Code Apartments, and I can confidently say it was one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve had with accommodation. From the moment I checked in, the unit was in an unsatisfactory state. The balcony had cigarette butts left behind (including numerous others discarded onto the adjacent area), the floors weren’t vacuumed, the walls had visible patch jobs, the doors were badly scratched, and one lamp was completely non-functional. These were issues I chose not to raise at the time because I was attending a conference and other events. What’s worse, I was later charged $100 for the cigarette butts that weren’t even mine. My wife and I don’t smoke, which can be verified by anyone who knows us. I provided time-stamped photos and videos from the day of check-in proving this, yet the property initially blamed me. While the charge was eventually refunded, they failed to even offer even a basic apology for their mistake. To add insult to injury, when I raised my legitimate concerns about the overall poor condition of the unit and the lack of proper cleaning and maintenance, I was met with a dismissive response that they were ā€œunable to offer any compensations.ā€ This after setting the precedent of charging me $100 for what was 2 cigarette butts which I had captured in my 2min long video walking through the room highlighting all of the above!. (Unfortunately my video was to big to upload & cuts it after 30 seconds) This property not only lacks proper cleaning standards but also fails in basic customer service and professionalism. It’s clear they don’t take accountability for their shortcomings, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

1 star for one word - DISGUSTING. You definitely get what you pay for here. The state of the reception desk covered in Junk speaks for the whole place and level of professionalism. Both room Air con's had barely any air moving.. Found out why when filters inspected. Hasn't been cleaned since installed along with the oven or top of fridge. Front of dryer filter / Cover kept falling off when used. State of washing machine detergent holder speaks for itself.. Washing machine absolutely stank when opened. Why hasn't the rusted toilet brush been replaced from 1942? Hand rail clearly needs maintenance and why is it installed to jab your shoulder when seated on toilet?! Water pressure dismal, shower head needs replacing, water temp was either scolding hot or freezing cold, no in between unless shower head was removed then everything improves however water goes everywhere from outlet. The amount of dust built up under the bed is a complete health hazard. Dropped my phone behind the bed and had to move it to retrieve... What a LOVELY surprise underneath! FILTHY!!!! WiFi doesn't work when signing in with code provided and is randomly sitting on the ground in the lounge? Lovely STAINED lumpy lounge for guest use that requires replacement! Went to do dishes and nearly died from the stench in the dishwasher when opened.. Great location with train stop and IGA around the corner plus lovely rooftop views in the evening. The compliments end there. Such a shame as the structures look pretty newish, just needs a team who care to give it some TLC! Won't be returning to code.

My husband and I stayed for a total of 3 days at Code apartments. For the price we paid, this is a reasonable place to stay. The apartment comes with a kitchen equipped with a stove, microwave and they also have pots, utensils and pans for use. The living area was spacious and the unit comes with an in suite laundry which was super helful since we can do our laundry anytime we needed to. The room came with a queen bed which was okay, not too lumpy or hard and the pillows were adequete. The apartment was pretty quiet we didn't hear too many noises outside and they had a lot of quiet signs around the building. With that being said, I will note that the unit is not the most cleanest apartment I have seen. The bathroom shower did have signs of mold on the sides, the night stands and lamps were a bit dusty and the couch did not seem too clean. But for the price you pay and for the convience of the location to the train station, I think its an acceptable place to stay. We didn't have any trouble while we stayed here and after reading all of the reviews, I was also scared of staying here but we decided to give it a chance and for the price we paid and the amenities that were provided I think this place is a good stay.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME AT THIS ACCOMODATION! Managment does not care about it’s customers or their experience!

I booked two nights at this accomodation and like others I initially found the condition of the accomodation quite worn out, not well maintained and still dirty with mould in shower seals and fan in bathroom completely full of dust. I ignored this however as I thought I am only there 2 days. Another inconvenience is on arrival one of the two elevators was having ā€˜planned maintenance’ as per the poster on the elevator, which was not informed before when booking my accomodation. This may seem like a minor complaint however if you are taking multiple luggage and belongings 5 times up and down between floors it gets frustrating when it is the only elevator and multiple others need to use it as well……would be nice if they took this into the price of the accomodation! (Also asked but they do not have any sort of carrier to take belongings in one go)…

Now to the real drama! I confirmed with reception on my arrival on the first day that I would need to depart before their reception was open at 9am (2 days later) and checked where I was to return my swipe key when I leave.

On my departure day, I began taking my belongings from my room on the 5th floor to the basement below ground level to my car. When returning to the elevator, my swipe key all of a sudden no longer worked! I ran up the staircase to the 5th floor only to find out I could no longer get into my apartment! This was so stressful as reception was not to be open until 9am and it was after 5am and I could not even access my apartment to get my mobile phone! To top it off there was NO emergency phone to use in the lobby to even call the after hours number outside the front door! Also it is a safety issue as I could not even leave the lobby as I was afraid to be stuck outside while it is still dark! Nothing anywhere to call anyone for help!!!

I had to then wait around for someone to go past on their way to work to then beg them if I can borrow their phone or ask them to call on my behalf the after hours phone number.

Next a lady comes down who obviously sleeps in the apartment and she accessed the office to swap my swipe card to one that works…..she told me to call reception later to complain which I did….the audacity of the first receptionist Mike to then say ā€œmost people have their phones on themā€ and ā€œthis has never happened beforeā€! As if to blame me for leaving my phone in my apartment!!! My phone was charging while I packed my car ready to depart!!! Do I need to explain why my phone was in my apartment??! How about why did my swipe card suddenly stop working and there was no emergency procedures in place for a paying customer????? CRAZY!!!!!

Next, I called back a bit later to talk to a lady receptionist Yasmin who is absolutely lovely and she was doing the best she could with my situation. I complained to her about my experience and she told me she would talk to her manager and maybe her manager will call me back….

Hours later….NO call so I decided to call back…..The manager never talked to me but the receptionist told me that the manager has reviewed the CCTV footage and they saw I was distressed and they said they would ā€˜review for future installing a phone in the lobbyā€ā€¦..I said that doesn’t help what I went through and leaving late and getting stuck in hours of peak hour traffic!!! The receptionist then told me they would only be able to offer 20% off a future booking with them…….I couldn’t believe that was the offer!!! WHY WOULD I PAY ANY MORE MONEY TO YOUR ACCOMODATION!!!! So instead of you partially reimbursing me for my stressful experience, somehow you try and make MORE money from me???? Absolutely DISGUSTING!!!!! Next time definitely paying for better quality accomodation!!!!...

Honest Review by a user who's stayed here quite a few times!

Worst experience & the most unsafe way of checking in after hours!!

Let me begin with our experience of the late check-in process. So, we flew out from Perth, so by the time we reached the reception was closed, so we had to dial a number to get checked in. We called, and the receptionist - Ash Fischer (nlt sure if its his real name) on the call said he will send us a link where we have to upload the back & front of the drivers license and the front of the credit card that shows the name. Which was acceptable. Next, he said since we are checking after hours, the receptionist is not in person, so we need to read out our credit card number with the expiry date and the cvv, so he can charge us a reversible deposit fee. When asked the question of how it is safe to do so, he said, "Well, that's the procedure if you want us to let you in the apartment." And mind you, this is the stay we have already paid for. My question is - just like they sent a link to upload the ID, can't they send us a link for entering our own credit details so we don't have to share our credit card number, expiry and cvv as well? Which bank in the world has ever mentioned that we can freely share these details? And when we asked him to put us on to his manager, he said, "Sure, mate," and the call was just stalled, and we waited for minutes and never got to speak. So we had to cut the call, and ultimately, we gave in and had to give our cc details. This is UNFAIR!!! IT WAS BLOODY COLD OUTSIDE AND WE WERE NOT ALLOWED INTO THE ACCOMMODATION WE PAID FOR!!!

Next, we entered and let me tell you how the room is - well the bathroom stinks all the time (not after we use, it stank when we entered as well), the washbasin clogs even by the time we open the tap for washing our hands, the water from the showers pour out and it wets the whole floor, the lights in the room/bathroom flicker all the time and best - 20gb data is available each day, but the wifi doesn't read on any of our devices. When we called them about it, all they said was , "WE are just receptionists for getting you in, we don't know about wifi."

This whole month, we have stayed in some of the most outback areas and had the most amazing experience. This experience in the city is the worst we could have asked for.

I wish there was something called a negative rating, I would have given it to Code Apartments Brisbane, very happily!

And yes - no parking space, find your own if you're lucky, or park and walk for a mile!

Worst stay, most disrespectful service and less than average quality of the rooms! FIND A BETTER PLACE TO STAY NEXT TIME, LIKE WE ARE...

I would like to firstly start by saying what a great job you do at deceiving your guests, the apartment we were offered looked nothing like what is advertised online. Well done!

We arrived to book a car park only to have someone else parked in the spot so we had to go back to reception to be allocated another car park and then move the car. Pretty sure there is some sort of booking or allocation system to avoid this kind of thing in the first instance.

We proceeded up to our floor only to be greeted by the most disgusting pungent smell of wet dog/mould as we exited the lifts and made our way to the room. Walking past cleaners standing in the hall gossiping and chatting away instead of doing what I assume is their job and cleaning the rooms.

We opened the door to our room which was hot, closed up and stuffy with an even more disgusting smell of sewage coming from it.

Walking down the hall and putting our items on the bed we noticed the air vent in the bedroom was popped out and on the floor, there were stains on the sheets and bedding and no fans or cooling in the room. We tried to turn the air conditioner on and after it finished making a god awful noise and kicked in it was the smell of mould and dust that was now filling the room.

We couldn't open a window as they were all locked to enable some fresh air into the room. The couch and cushions were all stained and had a nasty smell about them as did the fridge which was not even cold.

We went to take a shower and whilst I love a cool shower most of the time there was absolutely no hot water at all even after leaving the shower on hot for over five minutes.

We also went to check out the pool, wow what a Petrie dish it was. There was mould scum all around the pool edge where the water had gone stale and the pump that should be on all the time was not on at all. The chairs were all broken or mouldy/dusty and there were bugs floating all over the surface of the water. Not something anyone should be swimming in for health and safety reasons.

At was at this point we were fed up with the cleanliness and deception as this is not what we had paid for at all. We had to book elsewhere and we left the premises after only an hour of being there.

We have taken several photos and videos of the state of the apartment and the facilities and will be sending these along with our experience to the ACC and the governing health department. Request for a refund and release of the security...
