I’ve often driven past Heirisson Island but never took the time to stop and explore. Over the weekend, I decided to go for a morning walk, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience.
The weather was perfect, with clear blue skies and a comfortable temperature. The island itself is stunning, surrounded by lush greenery, with Perth’s skyline providing a beautiful backdrop and the calm Swan River enhancing the peaceful atmosphere. Although I didn’t spot any kangaroos this time, walking through the tranquil surroundings with slow music playing in my ears was incredibly relaxing.

Read moreBrilliant little walk around with kangaroos to look at. Area is clean and well taken care of, no litter anywhere during my visit. Path is rustic and natural, which is great for wildlife. I went around 17.30 and saw at least 7 different kangaroos, which was fantastic! Above there will be parrots, parakeets and long legged fishing birds flying overhead. Read moreWe couldn’t believe that we could see wild kangaroos right in the middle of Perth city! It’s an island situation within Perth, and there’s a short 10 min walk from the nearest bus stop into the sanctuary. It’s gated so be careful to close the door after entering/exiting. We were lucky enough to see some kangaroos after around 5 mins exploring the area.
