Quality Hotel Ambassador Perth — Attraction in East Perth

This was our very first trip to Perth.If you’re planning to take trains or buses both within and outside the CBD, I highly recommend getting a public transport card called the SmartRider. You can buy it at the Airport Train Station customer service counter, located right next to the ticket barrier. The card costs AUD $10 (non-refundable), plus any amount you wish to top up.Using a SmartRider gives you a 10% discount on every ride. After the discount:Travelling within 1 zone costs about $3.15 per ride.Travelling between 2 to 9 zones costs only $4.68 per ride.There’s also a daily cap of $10.40, no matter how many rides you take.Inside the CBD, there’s a Free Transit Zone (FTZ) where bus travel is free. This hotel is within the FTZ, with a bus stop just 2 minutes’ walk from the entrance—very convenient. You can tap on and off any bus from this stop at no charge as long as you travel within the FTZ. Many buses from here go straight to Elizabeth Quay Train Station and Bus Interchange, where you can easily transfer to other buses or trains.Perth’s public transport system is excellent, with buses arriving every 10 minutes or less. There’s also a free CAT bus service with four routes (Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow). No tapping is required on CAT buses. A Red CAT stop is just a 5-minute walk away, on the street directly behind the hotel.If you’re driving, the hotel has a car park (charges apply).We stayed here for 6 nights. While the location and transport convenience are excellent, I would like to sincerely share some areas for improvement:Lighting: The room lighting was very dim, making the space feel gloomy throughout our stay. Brighter lighting would make a big difference.Water Pressure: Both hot and cold shower water had very low pressure, making showers uncomfortable.Air Conditioning: The air-conditioning was weak. We stayed in winter, so it wasn’t a big issue, but in summer it could be problematic.Carpet Condition: The carpets in the rooms and lifts could use replacement.Lobby Appearance: While not critical, a refreshed lobby and lift lobby would greatly improve first impressions for arriving guests.These are my genuine, heartfelt suggestions in the hope they can help improve the comfort and experience for...

Things I liked: Room is quite spacious and neat. For an hotel, very aesthetically pleasing including the bathroom. Great shower and even includes a separate bath tub (if that’s your thing) Bed is gigantic, could reasonably sleep 3/4 people no problem. Service was quite decent, no issues here.

Things I did not like: Air conditioner basically does not work. You get no control over the temperature, only the fan setting (low, medium, high) which makes little difference. Even in winter with the fan on high, the room is humid and very uncomfortable while sleeping. The windows are unable to be opened so you are trapped in the heat. The temperature outside is preferable to what you will experience in the room. Absolutely no ammenities in the room. Every corner has been cut here. No plates, utensils, toaster, or microwave. There is a single shared microwave on the ground floor for the whole hotel. Enjoy heating up a microwave meal in front of reception or taking food back to the room and cutting it with 1 of the 2 teaspoons provided. Only a single chair in a room. If you have more than 1 person staying, you are forced to eat on the bed. Curtains are not full sized and you will not be able to block the light coming in from the window in any meaningful way. Sunlight comes in from the left, right, and middle of the window due to the undersized curtains Not the hotels fault here, but the view from the room itself is a joke. You will be looking at an empty plot of land full of graffiti and left over rubbish that people have dumped there. Parking is $25 a day and you would be better off hauling your luggage 500m from a less expensive/free parking spot. They require a $100 preauthorisation/bond before you can check in. Not really an issue, but annoying.

Honestly a very uncomfortable sleeping experience. There are plenty of budget options within walking distance (quest, Novotel, ibis) and you would have a much better stay at...

Horrible horrible place/stay, the entire place/room is weird.. to start there is like 2 wall outlets, other than the ones by the office table but if you plug into them; whatever interface it uses makes an extremely annoying whistle. There is no microwaves in the room, strictly only an old dirty kettle.. there is a lot of dirty things in the room, curtains have spit on them, bath was full of dust grime and hair. There is no aircon, or aircon remote, just a switch you can turn on or off for cold air (it’s winter with no heating). The TV is very small luckily as it’s held on by smaller screws than meant to be and almost falling off.. and you cannot plug external devices in to use as a source, as the remote was only coded to work with about 6 buttons, info home and chan/volume +/- The walls are very very dirty and it just feels dusty, the room layouts are very small and Asian, they use wide angle shots to mess with perspective on the marketing photos, I would show you if these reviews allowed me to post media. We got a “King Deluxe room” that is meant to be a king bed but is just two very bad and noisy single mattresses pushed together….. All in all one of the worst places in Perth I have stayed at. If you want to use a microwave there is one for EVERYONES use downstairs. Everything is dated and dirty, i could say so much more but I’ll save everyone the time, just don’t stay here.. if you need nice on a budget there are many others, this is worse than older baileys.
