My son and I stayed in Room 504 in Salamanca Terraces. The location was great. We attended the last Saturday Christmas Markets. Reception had recommended Blue Eye for our first night for dinner and could not move my son off the crayfish croquettes for entree. Reception were brilliant with their assistance on places to eat and really helpful in general. I had messed up my dates and they easily moved us into what is referred to as a semi-penthouse on same floor - Room 501. Only difference being a wrap around balcony and some additional food preparation items.||My son and I loved Room 504 - we were set up with our requested 2 singles on arrival in the bedroom area with loads of space for hanging my clothes and backpacks etc. Lounge area was large with a small table n chairs to sit 4 and TV (another TV in the bedroom). We had water glimpses from the window in the lounge room - you could see some of the 100 cruise ships that visit Hobart harbour every year. There is also a small room dedicated for a washing machine, a hanging rack and laundry sink. As you know travelling with kids it is fab to run a few loads of washing. It was a good base for us to explore Hobart and go on our trips to Bruny Island, MONA and the harbour, Battery Point is a very historic area in Hobart and really worth walking around this area.||I could easily walk up to Myer or Woolworths and do a little shop or buy some...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe room description on the website was misleading. I reserved a studio apartment, which turned out to be a very small (and ugly) room with a kitchen sink in a corner. I suppose the sink made the room an āapartment with kitchen facilitiesā, even though there is no cook top and it was impossible to prepare food there. Seriously disappointing. The entrance to the building is via a small and smelly lobby off a car park, and the outlook of my room was over the car park. The tap over the ākitchenā sink was faulty and sprayed water everywhere with use, making it perilous to run water. Despite that, an unfriendly sign told me that housekeeping would not wash any dishes. They probably didnāt want to use the tap either. There is free wi-fi, but it is (no doubt deliberately) so slow that you may want to opt for their fee based wifi. Or just skip it and hot spot from your phone. There are no USB power outlets. I had to go out and buy a charger. Bad accomodation really affects your stay in a place⦠Maybe stay...
